In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Debbie Mawson - VERY, VERY BAD - Using my UPS Account!

I wonder if UPS has the ability to flag a delivery address as fraudulent?

If they could set up their system to automatically flag any shipment to her address as suspect, and verify with the shipper that the shipment is genuine, it would save them a lot of money in refunds.

I would think that she is probably using other accounts fraudulently as well.

It's still amazing to me that she would have thought to do this and think that nobody would notice. I hope that UPS does the right thing and presses charges against her!

Debbie, I know you read these posts - how do you justify this type of behavior, to yourself? Iguanas are wonderful creatures with the wisdom of the ages in their eyes. They deserve better then you!

I just noticed a sign at my local UPS today that's new this week that says "Starting October 1, a government-issued phot ID will be required for all shipments made at this facility". Hopefully they do the same at all the other locations as well. Now checking an ID and making sure the ID is a person authorized to ship on an account are two seperate issues, but at least it's progress in the right direction.

I wonder if I contacted the local UPS in sutherland (or nearby larger city) if they could have the truck driver just scan all shipments to her and cross-reference for fraud (by looking at origin city vs account holder city). Might be worth the call.

On a side note, I jsut left Debbie negative feedback and linked to this thread... lol. Maybe it will prevent someone from giver her a free lizard at my expense in the future.

Wow... With my hard drive crash this weekend I didn't even notice that I missed a gmail e-mail from debbie last Friday.

As per my inclination of posting everything, here it is

Hi, I am at the library right now.My computer does not work.I sent it out to be fixed.I did not use your account number.I talked to ups and they said since i did not have a account it was charged to last shipper that sent something to my home.I am not that type of person i would never do anything like that.I recieved a bill for the charges. It was a mistake.I really dont know why they did that.I would really like to talk to you on the phone. We are only limited 15 min.on this computer since they only have one.Let me know what you would like me to do about this.I will talk to ups again and tell them to make sure this does not happen again.I am very sorry.

Huh? I'm going to have to call UPS and verify that... but I can't beleive that a company would ever do that. I just bought someone from newegg sent ups, does that mean that I can order anythign I want at newegg's expense... no I didn't think so. I'll try to confirm with UPS when I call later.

I would really like to talk to you on the phone
For the 40-millionth time, NO.

I will talk to ups again and tell them to make sure this does not happen again.I am very sorry.
Yeah we'll all have a little chat with UPS. As for you being sorry... I doubt it. If you were that sorry you would have paid me the $40 for the first iguana, you would have sent mike his money, and you wouldn't be still getting animals shipped to you. I think you're just sorry that you ripped off someon as vocal as me.

Wow, I must say that this has been one of the more entertaining and yet disturbing posts I have read in a while. Its sounds as if UPS needs to do something to tighten the security of accounts... like not supply them to the public on the labels!
I think if I were you Brian, I would hop on the UPS website and change your billing methods.

Is there any update on this? I'm very curious how UPS is going to handle this situation, as everyone who uses their account has the number plastered right there on the shipping label. Makes for a very easy scam that I hope is rectified so swiftly it makes it not worth while for the potential scammers. (Except for Debbie, who apparently thinks this is a foolproof crime)

Maybe this could be a lesson for UPS itself to change their policy a little. Like maybe put asterisks in place of a few numbers. Seems really dumb to leave their customers and themselves open to this kind of thing when a solution is very simple.

The lady at UPS said they will NOT automatically charge the previous shipper, so that's BS. They also said that they didn't (or couldn't) provide me with any kind of update. So I'm not really sure what the deal is but they have to be getting sick of giving me money back...

Brian,
Just curious - was there ever any infomation given to you by UPS about Debbie Mawson's theft of your account?

I stumbled across her old bad check in my files today and decided to resurrect her threads to hopefully prevent her from duping anyone else.

Hey Mike,
I actually never heard anything back from UPS. On the plus side my account has been clear for quite some time. I'm not really sure what (if anything) they ended up doing.

My question is....... why hasn't the local P.D. in her area have been called? They will surely tell you what your options are and can lead you to a person who can take action on your behalf. There would be nothing more satisfying then to know a criminal like her was hauled off in had cuffs.

Thanks

We will never forget you Debbie!

~Bump to top~

I wouldn't want anyone to forget about you Debbie.
There may be some new people here that are not yet aware of your unsavory dealings!

OMG I am so incredibly angry...

Greetings Everyone!

I haven't frequented the forums other than to read a few posts here and there and to look at the classifieds but as some of you know, I have a rescue site http://amandas_menagerie.tripod.com

I was looking at new posts this evening and came across this one about Debbie Mawson. The name sounded SO incredibly familiar so I looked through my files on adoptions and lo and behold...there she was!
I have the story on my site about Ginger the Iguana and what "supposedly" happened. I will update that story with the new knowledge that my suspicions for the past 3 years were correct, that I had been lied to and was being scammed. Feels pretty crappy to know I've carried this guilt for the past 3 years that Ginger's supposed fate was probably all a lie but still...that doesn't make me feel any less guilty/worse that she still was in the hands of someone that deceptive and heartless.

I feel so intensely angry that I was that gullible and didn't even think to check the fauna area (though I don't know as I will do some digging now to see if there WAS anything in 2003 on Ms. Mawson).

I am utterly ashamed that I sent poor Ginger to what I thought was going to be her newly adopted home and ended up being a huge scammer and criminal. I can only pray that Ginger is alive and well with someone that does love and care for her properly.
I will fully post the story on my website this weekend.

Thank you to all who have posted on her and I certainly hope she gets what she deserves.

Hugs,

Amanda
