In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Inquiry Deborah Broadus-Muskauski

I received a shipment where a 40 hr heat pack failed and the animal was extremely cold. Poor thing did feel like a rock!

Deb, please don't ship until you get those heat packs though, they are much safer than hand warmers so you'll have one less thing to worry about.

I know you're like me, you worry about the animal just as much as the customer until the package arrives!

Thanks for the advice. I will let todays shippers know that the packages won't be shipped if the handwarmers aren't on my porch when I get home.

:iagree: Wow..do I EVER. I almost hate selling and shipping them cause it is so stressful till they arrive.

Ugh! Don't call them handwarmers! :D

Reptile heatpacks have about as much in common with hand warmers as you do to a snow sculpture; they may look similar, but they are not the same!

Test one, put it in a shipping box like you were going to ship and check it periodically you will notice a big difference in the way they behave.

I'd order a few 60 hr ones also if you plan on shipping late into the winter.

Gotcha!

I had already ordered 40 hour heat packs (Uniheat) from LLLreptiles after this fisaco... I hope they come in time. I ordered them: Tue 10/21/08 10:09 PM Alexis delivery was on Monday 20th if I am not mistaken for a Tuesday delivery.

Recent Debs customer

Deb shipped my BP the same day she shipped the others. I did received an email from her regarding the heat pack she used, saying that she just found out that they don't stay warm for too long. Before all this happened I make sure Deb was shipping my snake priority over night, which guarantees delivering before 1030am (regular overnight sucks cause is guarantee to be delivered the next day anytime of the day) so that the snake wont be in transit for so many hours. I work for probably the biggest shipping company there is and I never take delivery issues as an excuse or i will always get my money refunded. The snake (albino ball) did arrived a little cold (50 degree weather that day) . I was waiting at the door for the Fedex driver, open the box and got the snake out which felt cold to the touch but was moving around normally. Its been seven days now and he looks just fine and already ate for me with no hesitation at all. Other than the heat pack problem (I'm sure she knows better now) I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Thank you Diego for letting people know that I was on top of the issue as soon as I realized what had happened (still kicking myself). I took steps to ensure that it would never happen again though any fault of mine.

I ship ONLY Priority Overnight. So I am not sure why Alexis package gets to her in the evening..nevertheless, it was MY fault.

Deb,im pretty sure its all about location.

I get stuff that is supposed to be there by 10 or so AM, and i never, ever. Get it until 2-3 Up to 5pm. I think the only times i got stuff sooner, were when i lived in town. Now, im further outside of that route. My driver rocks though, and keeps my stuff right up front with him when he leaves the fed ex hub.

I'm looking for a supplier of the 60 hour ones as we post.

I would have do disagree with that. One pays for a service that guarantees delivery before 10:30 am of the next day, if they cant commit to their word then is time to switch to a different carrier or get your money refunded (hey free shipping) every time they mess up. Location is not a good reason to fail to deliver on a commit time whether you're buying a snake or a car decal from Ebay.

*comments are just regarding overall shipping practices, has nothing to do with a snake arriving cold or using inadequate heating packs

there is a clause that allows for later shipments to areas like mine in the fedex terms, if i remember correctly.

I'm in a non-covered area as well. I used to tell people not to bother paying for the "in by 10:30am", bcause the package would NOT arrive before noon, and if you paid for overnight, you'd get the package to me by noon.. that's just when the delivery guys reach my area.
When I complained, I was informed I did not live in a area covered by the 10:30am arrival. I told them that it should come up on the computer when the package is sent, so that the person shipping would know it RIGHT then and not pay the extra, or not ship!

The thread was an INQUIRY. Not a bad guy thread. So what's the problem? People are not allowed to make inquiries to see if others had similar experiences? Or make inquiries for any reason? I dont see inquiries ever being a waste of time.

The problem I have with his inquiry Sammy is its purpose. He has received the snake and for now at least it appears okay. Deb has been in contact with him about the heat pack and shipping delay. There is no reason to believe she wouldn't stand behind her sale with another snake or refund should it come to that. It doesn't appear that he intends to order another one from Deb in the near future. So in my opinion what he has done is an attempt to disguise a warning as an inquiry.

Cause Harald knows that I am of the mind that if a little is ok..a lot will work better...is 72 hour heat packs too much?

I think they tell you the max-min heat times/temps in the order description (I haven't ordered any in a while) so you might want to check on the peak heat temps on those and calculate the time in transit. FWIW I've never had to use anything over 60.

Deborah - as I mentioned in our private conversation, getting the heat packs right can be confusing (and, as in just about every other case we've discussed, more is not necessarily better, lol). All heat packs are not created equal...the shorter lived the pack the faster it heats up, and the hotter it gets. In most of our regular shipping situations, 60 and 72 hr packs are unnecessary...they will be delivered long before they even reach their peak temps. *There is a comparison of the different heat packs on Superior Enterprise's site.

Under the circumstances (the snake is outwardly healthy, you have acknowledged a potential problem with your shipping method & want to fix it, and you have already made a good faith offer to pay to have the snake returned to you), a more in-depth discussion of heat packs is more suited to the shipping forum.

Actually, when you prepare the shipment online if the shipper takes the time to hit the "get rate and transit time" button it will show you what time they "guarantee" the arrival time.

Also, the waiver that you sign with FedEx to ship reptiles specifically states that they must be shipped "priority overnight". In addition the contract also states that even if they don't deliver on time the "money back guarantee" is waived.
