Growing up in San Diego, CA kings were one of the most common snakes I would find herping this area. This coastal region has produced some of my favorite varieties of striped coastal phase kings. 2010 hatch: 1.2 related trio from Del Mar, CA. I originally caught the mother of this trio in 2010 and realized she was gravid. I kept the 11 eggs and released mom back into the canyon of this coastal locale. Half the clutch was banded and the other half were striped. I kept the 3 babies with perfect stripes down the middle to raise up and sexed them as a 1.2 trio. They bred for the first time this year and majority of the babies were coastal striped phase with the occasional banded or two in the clutch.
