In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

How do you monitor parasites in your breeding colonies? Do you check your rodent feeders for parasites or use any kind of de-worming medication for colonies? I would like to try and avoid parasites in the snakes that are live feeders, at the very least avoid big ones like tapeworms. Thanks!

A natural de-worming product I use on everything from the dogs, cats, birds and in the garden and on my rodents is Diatomaceous Earth. My local feed store sells "Food Grade" Diatomaceous Earth, it looks and feels like flour, but it is like microscopic shards of glass that cut up parasites as it passes through the animal's system. I add it to my grain based rodent food. I use it for a period of 5 days or so and then repeat every 6 months or so.

Just make sure is it "Food Grade" Diatomaceous Earth, the type used for pools is not safe to use.

Ahhh, that would have been my next question as I have some around the house for the pool. Where can this be purchased? I haven't seen it on any of the online reptile stores I frequent (may be looking for the wrong thing).

Thanks

Well I do not think it will be on reptile websites, I found out about Diatomaceous Earth from the poultry people that I know. I use it to deworm my Bantam chickens and control mites on the birds, also to prevent an infestation of worms on my dogs, cats, and rodent colony. Here is a webite that explains the uses of Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. I think they also have it for sale.
