In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just got off the phone earlier with a Michael Potter, who is a representative at DHL working with me on shipping reptiles.

He has talked to both my local DHL shipping facility as well as his supervisors, and they have both said they will ship reptiles for me.

His information is:

> >Michael Potter
> >Corp Sales Representative
> >DHL Express
> >800-228-3552 x18152
> >Fax 480-636-2468

For anyone who wants to work something out with DHL.

I'm fed up with fedex, personally. After fighting with them to update my information with them and all the extra fees added onto the shipping that I wasn't told about until 2 weeks later, I'm done. Hopefully DHL will be better.

Just wondering, did they tell you that they would ship all harmless reptiles, including snakes? Or, just lizards and turtles, etc.

Please advise, as I mainly ship only snakes and deal very little in other herps.

Thank you.

Thanks for your prompt response. Please keep all of us advised as to how the DHL process goes. Such as what info they require from you and how long the entire process takes. Also, do they come out and inspect your facility and/or have to approve your shipping boxes.

Thanks again. Please keep us all informed.

Michael Potter did not talk about facility inspection or box inspection. He asked how I shipped and what I used, and I explained to him that all baby snakes are kept in tightly closed and aerated deli cups which are also taped shut, packed in newspaper with either a heat or cool pack, and then placed in a styrofoam lined box specifically for shipping reptiles. Adults are bagged and then packed in the same manner.

I hope you have better luck with them then I have. They used to be great, when they were Airborne. Now that DHL has bought them prices went $10 to $30 higher! The last two times, with their new workers they take 2 days to pick up, never on the first. Now this time they are making up lies! They told me I told the worker who was picking up there was no package ready. Too bad I was at school and my mom saw no sigh of DHL. UPS will be shipping this package, and if all goes well they will be my new shipper.

Good luck!
Matthew

Well, I have a reptile shipping acount with Airborne/DHL. As a matter of fact it is SPJ Herps. The male driver is always curious about what I am shipping or receiving. They know I ship reptiles and the woman delivery person shows her fear when she holds the boxes about 3 feet from her as she is delivering them.:D Kinda funny watching her walk up with the box.

Hello again,

Were you able to ship via DHL today? Mind telling what the cost was? Where was the shipment shipped from and to?

Thank you.

David Rivers

Yep, I shipped a baby corn snake within Washington state, overnight, for $23.00 and the people at the drop site were friendly, knew it was a snake, and didn't give me any problems.

Just a follow up: Did your DHL shipment make it ok? Arrive on time to the customer on time and ok?

Please advise.

Thank you.

David Rivers

No, it arrived a day late, but it wasn't DHL, as a company's, fault. We traced the problem down to one very lazy and stupid employee, who not only "didn't want to drive through the fog to deliver the package" but he also violated DHL's customer privacy by telling my customer I, personally, was not allowed to ship reptiles (without verifying this through his supervisor) and that I shipped the snake in a "shoebox" when he never saw the box because he was too lazy to go find it.

So remember folks, when dealing with any shipping company, GET NAMES. I have the name of this lazy employee, and gave it to the appropriate people. He won't be working at that DHL location much longer.

The snake in the end arrived safely and healthy. She's doing fine in her new home. DHL is working on *hopefully* refunding the shipping to the customer.

LOL! They'll never refund the reciever. If anything, they MIGHT refund the sender... But only if you stay on them for a few months.

Or was the shipping billed to the reciever's account?

The shipping was billed to me, but I instructed them to send the refund to the customer. I haven't heard from the customer, who I expected to be screaming and yelling if she didn't get her refund, but I'll be calling them on monday to check.

I had spoke with someone when I first started to ship snakes about a year ago and was told they DID ship snakes. Well I packaged the baby 03 ball python took it to the DHL near the Columbis Ohio airport to only find out the woman said that they DID NOT ship snakes. After I explained to hear who I spoke with on the phone she opened up their policy book an it stated the do not ship reptiles but they will ship frogs, toads, fish, turtles and tortises. Now please tell me what in heck do they think turts & torts are? I decided to try FED EX once shipped a 03 BP overnight to Pennslyvania (1 state over mind you) and the package did not arrive for 4 days needless to say the snake was dead and I refunded the buyers payment for him to go to somewhere else because he was not happy with the shipping which I can understand. Also pretty much the same BS with UPS. But so since I have never personally had a problem with DHL I only ship thru them now I just mark ALL of my packages as "Live Turtles Handle With Care". And I never have had a problem (Knock on wood & keep my fingers crossed) Hope that helps anyone. Thanks Damian
