In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Did Anyone see King of the Hill tonight?

It was an episode where a Burm (which did not look like a Burm) got loose in the sewer by Bobby, and basically in the end they kill it with a hammer... :ack2:

Its sickening... I was horribly dissapointed in it.

I watched it too. I was really hoping that they'd handle it better. Instead it was basically a full-on snake-hating bunch of BS. And I usually like that show.

That show is usually pretty good, but they're supposed to be a bunch of hicks. What do you expect?

I actually expected the typical ending where they feel sorry for the escaped pet and catch it, display it proudly and then give it to a zoo. That's the more common ending in most shows. Not practically showing a pet being beaten to death with hammers and catch poles. (they showed the guys beating, but not the snake getting hit)
I'm not saying that the show should be boycotted, I'm not proposing we march on washington. I'm saying the show disappointed me in the callous disregard for the life of a pet.

I saw it as well and was disgusted. They didn't even make the snake out to be vicious. They grabbed its tail and it didn't hiss or anything and they just beat it to death for no reason. I was horribly dissapointed in KOTH.

Just because they are supposed to be "hicks" doesn't excuse animal abuse. I know plenty of "hicks" who wouldn't condone beating an animal of any kind to death with a hammer.

I "expect" a shred of common sense.

I was just waiting for the thread on this..

I wrote an email, if anything just to make me feel better about it..

You're expecting too much.

Cathy, maybe we're both giving too much credit to cartoon characters. It's a TV show, meant to entertain. And in my experience with people, there seem to be way more lacking common sense than there are ones who have it. So therefore, in order to appeal to the masses, it's not surprising the writers would create the show that way. I didn't even see the episode. Just using my best common sense to speculate.

I just don't find beating an animal to death "entertainment" in any way, shape or form.

Call me weird. :shrug01:

Neither do I. But there are A LOT of "people" (people that are poster children for more abortions and the inspiration for a good argument on how advanced human beings really are) that do. And that's just the way it is. Ever see those hunting shows that are also on TV? Those are the best reality shows you can get. King of the Hill is a cartoon, created by the same guy who did Beavis and Butt Head.

What do you mean? You sent it to the producers?
Sorry, that should read letter.

I googled it and got the official contact address which is :

King of the Hill

None of my following comments are directed at any particualr member of the thread, all is speaking in general.
There is a big difference to me to show a hunting program where guys are using approved weapons to legally shoot and kill legal game animals, that you are AWARE that if you watch you'll see guys with weapons killing game animals.... and watching a comedy cartoon that shows people beating a pet to death. This wasn't even a snake hunt where they were killing some wild snake.. it was them beating to death a pet. That's the big difference to me.
If they'd beated to death a cat, you'd believe there would be a huge uproar, but because the pet wasn't furry it's all fine to them. I understand that there are people out there think it's funny, but there are also people out there that think setting a dog on fire is funny too. I don't think it should have been on the show, although I will give them the TEENY point that at least Hank looked upset watching them kill it.
I'll be mailing off a letter myself too. Thanks for posting the address.

Be it cartoon, written by a monkey, or anything like that, there is NO excuse for displaying that kind of violence on television against an animal that has a bad wrap already.

We are the people that represent the reptile community. I think it is only right that we express our concerns over such a blatant disregard for an animal's welfare.

Ummmm, can ANYONE remember Wile E Coyote and a Mr. Roadrunner?

How about Itchy and Scratchy? Pinky and the Brain?

Come on people, it's a damn cartoon.

Write your letters but save your disdain for a venue more likely to achieve ANYTHING.

You can't just say NO to reptiles being the onus of humor on cartoons, you have to be on the side of ALL animals. I'm willing to bet 90% of you laugh and Itchy and Scratchy and that ALL of you have laughed at Roadrunner Cartoons.

Kind of overkill here, heh heh heh, don't you think?

I just think it's a staggering coincidence that this many members of the same message board all had their remote batteries die simultaneously.

... and the buttons on the front of the television stuck into immobity.

... and the plug get stuck in the wall on that fused circut that couldn't be switched off.

... and all apparantly lacking the ability to physically leave the room.

Oh, I won't be watching the program again. But they didn't tell anyone they were going to beat the PET to death. It was right at the last bit. And posting a bit of a rant here doesn't mean we're organizing a march on DC.
No one here is watching the program over and over. I'd be willing to bet that NOT one of us forsaw them beating the snake to death at the end. I even stated that before up there.
Complaining about cruelty on a program depicting a pet being beaten to death seems like a perfectly legitimate complaint to moan about.
Wily E Coyote and the Road Runner are definate cartoon characters. Itchy and Scratchy, both cartoon characters. They abuse each other, and it's NOT a human person beating a pet. There is a difference. A cartoon cat beats up a cartoon mouse... hmm yep.
And for the record, I don't like those either. I liked Pinky and the Brain.. a little bit. And I didn't even like those rats getting beat up. Sorry.
But all in all.. why are you two posting on here saying WE are wrong for being upset at the showing of animal abuse? Is it wrong to NOT like that?
Saying that we shouldn't be upset because other shows have shown animal abuse(think Beevus and Butthead and the cat! Outrage there) is like saying that if someone posts that they had a real live snake snatched away and stomped to death that we should all say, well other snakes have been stomped to death, why are you upset? EVERY instance should get you upset.
All in all.. you have every right to say we are all oversensitive weeping willows. And I got the right to say you're wrong to think it's okay.
I NEVER once said they shouldn't air the show. Never said boycott the station. And I don't believe anyone else did either. So what exactly do you have a problem with?

I'm pretty sure King of the Hill is also a cartoon which sort of means that ALL the characters in it are also characters, sort of like coyotes, birds, mice, rats and cats.

That's my point.

If you REALLY want to do something, check out how KFC treats the birds we eat.
