In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

dirtystinkystuff ???????? anyone bought from them or had good or bad dealings

Tamara and David are great people. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase from them in the least. We have completely many successful deals with them and all of them went off without a hitch!

I havent purchased from them either, but have also held quite a few conversations with them, and also think their great people and wouldnt hesitate to make a purchase from them.

tamara is great and i've both sold animal to and traded with her. most recently i got a lovely male auric from her--he's gorgeous, healthy, eating great and growing fast! i wouldn't hesitate to do more business with her! :)

No Offence to anyone, But I dont think I would even attempt to buy from someone named(dirtystinkystuff) Is that there business name?

That's their business name. I was also taken aback by the name the first time I saw it but after seeing them on different forums, they seem to be really nice people with a really peculiar business name. :D

This is a good example of why you should put a little thought into what you call your business, if you feel you must have some "official" sounding name.
I have never done business with them and have never considered doing any business with them on the sole basis of what they chose to call themselves. The name to me did not reflect professionalism or seriousness about what they do, and only served to cause me to pass over their ads when I saw them. I had no idea who they were, or anything about them, but the name left me visualizing a kid somewhere trying to pretend to be a business out of mom's basement rather than someone I would look to as a source of quality reptiles with good business practices.

Here we have a good number of good references as to their business practices, but I doubt I'm alone in the number of people who dismissed them out of hand just based on the business name.

And there are plenty of people who have totally professional sounding names that have Screwed people over. Top Shelf Exotics for one.

Whats in a name?

Its the product and the person that counts.

Well, I don't know who originally said it, but this quote comes to mind:

"I don't care what they say about me, as long as they spell my name right"

Honestly, as a marketing tool, I think the name is a pretty good move. It's easy to remember, people won't likely forget it. It also piques people's curiosity, and gets them talking about it.

Don't forget Ron Tremper's company is called The Center for Reptile and Amphibian Propagation......The C.R.A.P...... And he is one of the top producers in Leopard Geckos.

I guess The Snake House In Texas was already taken.... :dgrin:

I agree it's not a name that makes me not want to take them too serious, but they have always seemed very upstanding on other forums.

Regardless of name if someone has a good reputation and and has what I want, I'll buy of off them whether they are a couple of artsy-fartsy college aged kids, or a fat old tattooed biker. Just as long as the animals are well cared I could care less about much of anything else. :D

I've never done business with them but have interacted with Tamara in the past on other message boards and she always seemed knowledgeable and professional about the animals she keeps. If it ever came down to it, I wouldn't hesitate to order from her.

Isn't this an inquiry about how they operate their business? What does the name they choose to call themselves have anything to do with their integrity in selling reptiles? If they've already proved themselves in this business and hobby time and time again, it seems a bit shallow to just disregard them because you don't like their title.

i recomend them, they have great animals and know their stuff! the name, well i think they made it up aone day and it stuck.ive bought from tamara and was pleased with my purchase.the animals was very healthy and packed professionally! who cares what their name is as long as they have good animals? i wouldnt hesitate doing buisness with them !

My comments were made from my perspective, and from that point of view they hadn't proven themselves time and time again. Several people have mentioned that they knew them from other forums where they were well respected. Until this thread was started the only thing I'd ever seen from them was their ads. I don't frequent other forums and they apparently do not frequent here.
I don't feel it's shallow at all to disregard them based on their business name when that's the only thing you know of them. While the name an individual chooses to sell under usually does not have any bearing on their business practices it is what makes the first impression, and when that's the only impression that gets made, it can cost business. That's what I was pointing out.

Now that this thread has been made, and they have received recommendations from numerous people, I would revise my opinion and would indeed consider doing business with them. Had this thread never occurred though, I was left with only how they presented themselves in their ads to base my decision on whether to buy from them.
When the seller is a complete unknown, I use what I have available to determine whether I will risk sending them money. These things include not only their business name, but things like how they write. Sure, these choices probably cause me to pass over some very good people, but I feel certain they also spare me from some bad deals as well.

Many times people simply do not realize what effect a childish sounding business name, the heavy use of internet shorthand, or poor spelling or grammar has on the way they are perceived by the general public.

Rather funny here reading this as when I first looked them up I came across many references with "dirty" or "stinky" or "stuff" in it, none of them favorable, lol.
The name did throw me off balance a bit but in the end hearing he was good and then talking and dealing with Tamara and she was nice I decided to buy and I was very happy.
Tamara was perfessional, shipped well, answered my many questions and best of all sent me terrific animals.
This is a relatively newer company that really have done their homework. I would buy from them again without reservation, even to the name.

thanks for all the post guys. i alloways like to check someone out before i buy from them. thanks

I just got linked to this thread, if I had known sooner, I would have come to reply right away.

I want to thank everyone who said nice things about us, we really appreciate it, and we are happy to have met some really fantastic people in this business. We try hard to conduct ourselves in a respectable manner. Treat people like you want to be treated, be the breeder with the qualities you admire.

Its come up on a few occasions, that people dismiss us because of our business name. For the most part, its kept quiet, but I still know its out there, I know "dirtystinkystuff" doesnt bring to mind awesome stuff. But if you actually look at our site, our pictures, our information, we actually DO have awesome stuff.

Anyone who breeds animals, knows the truth that there is alot of dirty stinky work! hahah, cleaning cages, changing poopy paper towels, getting pooped on, feeding icky animals like roaches, crickets, worms of all sorts! Thats what it is. Its dirty work, and no one can deny it. You dont go in, to check for eggs every day, and the cage is sparkling. Geckos eat, geckos defecate, its a part of life. Defecation, does not smell pretty :)

I know that you kind of also dismiss, that a good portion of the people who came to say nice things about us, are from forums. And people who dont go to a forum or 2 on a regular basis, might not understand the dynamic. Someone might have a fantastic business name, which makes you think happy sunshine things, but that doesnt make you know them. When someone regularly posts on forums, not just "wow those are great animals" but offer advice, give help, share their experience, and show you how THEY do things. That lets you know someone, especially in regards to how they care for their animals, their standards of care, their ethics, things that are important, in regards to what makes them quality or not.

Matt, Thanks for starting this thread, like Clay said, without it, we would have been a no-one, with an easily misinterpreted business name hahah. And we may still be! And thats fine, we will never stop trying to prove ourselves. Please also dont hesitate to contact us for a mile-long list of references, from trades, buying, selling, etc. You can also feel free to look up our posts. David goes by "dirtystinkystuff" on .net [the best leopard gecko site out there] and I go by "bleeding_sarcasm" on pangeareptile.com forum, redtailboa.net, forums.repashy.com, geckosunlimited.com, and many others :)

Thanks again to everyone who posted positive things about us. We consider you friends, and it means alot.

Tamara Locke & David Loftin,
