In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I'm highly sensitive to chlorhexadine. I've mainly relied on bleach for my closed colony because I've had no worries about cross contamination issues with anything. And I have enough space to put everyone in a clean enclosure while the one they've just come out of can be cleaned and can off gas until next cleaning rotation.

I'm going to be putting a new snake in QT very soon and I'd love to know what people use for disinfection besides bleach or chlorhexadine.

I used chlorhexidine for a while and switched last year to F10SC. I now use the chlorhexidine for mopping and F10 for everything else.

What's your dilution concentration for cage disinfection with the F10SC?
Spray and wipe? Saturate for how long on non porous surface?

Thanks!

I think it's 15ml/gal. I spray everything down as a pre-soak, let it sit for a second and then scrub it down real good. For water bowls, I rinse and then spray the main soak. For enclosures, I wipe down and then spray the main soak. I let both main soaks sit for 10-15 minutes, rinse and wipe off the bowls, and spray the enclosures down with fresh water and another cloth.

I will spot clean with the solution and not bother to rinse, supposedly it's harmless to animals in this manner. I haven't had a problem.

I soak porous items, such as rock and grapevine, in a bath for hours then rinse and scrub.

Thank you!

Pangea sells the F10, so I think I'm all set.

Do you know if the efficacy is diminished after the concentrate is opened? I don't want to buy a big bottle if it needs to be mixed and used within a small time frame.

Once more, thank you!

No problem. I was never able to find much but I trust it can last longer than I'll let it sit around. Mine came in a small bottle and it gets used on everything. Discovering its multiple uses is equivalent to rediscovering the baby wipe.
