In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Do not do business with paul harmsen!!! very bad man!!

Derek,
thanks for the address and phone number.
it is the same address and phone number that I have as well.
But there seems to be no such place as Hancock #1 in Marquette. And the number is listed under an M.Lascola at a nearby address, but one that also does not exist.
thanks for your help.
police have all of the info at this point, we'll see what they can do with it.

jessica......

......i was in marquette saturday and stopped at the local pet store and found a ball with a stuck eye cap and shed problem,i told the EMPLOYEE that i was a snake breeder and made some recommendations on how to help the ball,he responded by saying "you must know paul harmsen,he supplies some of our snakes" to which i responded "ya i know who he is" ,he then said "i guess he's moving".that's ALL i know about his move.BTW on my way home i stopped by again and the employee followed my suggestions to a tee to help the ball with it's shed, this is a quality pet store that strives to keep there pets in good health.

the store is called " the pet stop" and is owned by patrick j. kaski, 906/228-2891, i don't have his email address.the pet stop

my association with paul harmsen didn't last very long as i found his personality to be very abrasive.i wish you well in resolving these issues.

Is this where she worked a few months ago or is this where she works now?
Just curious becasue I was under the impression that they were moving out of state a few months ago. of course I was also under the impression that I would be receiving a ball python after paying for one so you never know ;-)

He may have gotten me too

Hi Jessica,

Sorry to hear your story. It sounds like he lied to you from day one. That pastel was beautiful. It was mine. There is no way that he could have known that it was from a pastel to pastel breeding because I didn't even know. I recieved it in a trade and didn't know that much about the background.

My experience with him was through a trade that we had worked out together. I was interested in getting into ball pythons and getting rid of a lot of my boa constrictors. I recieved the same sob story about how he had been taken advantage of to many times. Anyway, I recieved what I had believed to be a yellow belly, burgundy, and axanthic allong with a few other tid bits. The burgundy and the axanthic were gravid. The burgundy laid 4 eggs and the axanthic got eggbound and didn't make it. The eggs from the burgundy all were bad. If they were what he said they were, I did alright but I've found several ticks on two of them. As a result, I believe that these were all likely wild caught rather than from proven lines like I was led to believe. Overall I didn't really lose any money in the deal but I did lose some beautiful snakes (including the pastel that you purchased and didn't receive). I kind of got in the same mode. I knew that there were some shady characters out there and I got sucked in too without doing more background checks. Thanks for making the post.

thanks

Im still working to get this guy.
I found someone else in my local area who was ripped off by him as well and we are trying press charges. trouble is, he got me for about a grand and got this other guy for about the same so it is only a small claims case and most lawyers are not interested.
its a shame that someone can openly rob someone . . . two . . .three people and the courts are basically worthless.
Im not going to give details about the information i have, just in case he is reading this thread, but bascially the courts are useless and the PI's are expensive.
i guess small claims thievery is basically legal in the US now. :-(
Thanks for everyones help here on fauna, everyone has been really nice and supportive.

Gotta be something you can do.

I've been through something similar with another couple that basically stole $2000 worth of inventory from me. I worked with them for about 8 months to try to get things worked out. In the meantime, they were in the process of screwing over many many more people for tens of thousands of dollars. See the following thread.

http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69642&page=44&pp=5

I ended up thinking that my little 2k loss wasn't going to amount to anything compared to that. I ended up giving up and ditching all my records. I later found out that formal charges were being brought up against them and people were coming out of the woodwork to prosecute these individuals. What I think happens is that these people rip off people for these "small" amounts left and right figuring that nobody can do anything about it. I understand that you may never see the money that you loss to this guy but didn't he still steal from you? Didn't he still commit fraud? Even though you may not be able to get this guy to pay you, isn't it possible to get him formally charged for his criminal acts?

It sure is frustrating. You want to trust people in this industry thinking that they are in it for the love of the animals. People like this ruin it for the rest of us.

It's not possible to charge him with a crime without a current address, and as i dont have that . . . it's like i have nothing.
it would take law enforcement all of five minutes, i except, with the information that i have, to find this guys new address.
but they wont try.
im presently exploring other options but still remain disheartened.
thanks for the post.
