Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey everyone,

I have these recurring nightmares where in the dream - whether it's through eggs hatching or people just abandoning dozen of animals, I unexpectedly end up with piles of reptiles and i get stressed because I can't keep all of them togther and I don't want to abandon the animals and i'm trying to put them in tanks and i can't get them to stay in their tanks.

I have another recurring nightmare where kids (from the track team that i coach) go into my reptile room to play with my animals and 10 minutes later half the geckos have lost their tails and my frogs are half dead and the kids don't even realize the problem.

These two nightmares are recurring and my best friend who also keeps reptiles frequently has similar dreams.

I just want to know if this is common among reptile owners/breeders.

I actually have great reptile dreams....usually involves going out field-herping and finding indigo snakes, Boelens pythons, and albinos of anything, etc. Its very sad when I wake up.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I do have nice reptile dreams too. Just last night I had a good dream about 4 geckos hatching and keep wanting to wake up and find geckos waiting for me in the incubator so I'm very happy durring those dreams. but whenever I have stress induced anxiety dreams, it's ALWAYS nightmares about reptiles.

Now, I am not a professional dream interpreter but I would imagine that the interpretation would be the last things you are thinking of right before you go to sleep. Looks to me that you have a lot on your mind when you knock out... LoL

Sadly it seems that most of my dreams that involve any of my animals, including the reptiles are usually nightmares. Majority of the time they involve them getting seriously injured or killed with there being absolutely nothing I can do to prevent it. I think it's just because I'm always so stressed and my animals are just about the only positive thing I have to focus on in my life, so in my dreams the stress has to ruin that too :(

I dont tend to have reptile nightmares...most of my reptile dreams are pretty good...but i do have nightmares about the rats i feed them....i guess they arnt really full nightmares becuase they arnt to scary

basically I will dream that my snake room is over run with rats and I run around trying to figure out how to catch them and where to put them lol

sometimes i step on them...its gross

The worst nightmare i ever had involving my snakes was that i had come home from work one day, to find out someone had broken into my house and basically cut up all my snakes and left a trail of their pieces leading up to the body of my dog::(:(:( I literally woke up screaming and crying that night.

I have a near-term gravid snake... so I'm having odd dreams about snake babies once or twice a week... sometime it comes out fine, sometimes not.... so I'm sure it's to do with your state of mind when you go to sleep.

I had a dream last night... My large female Ball Python had eaten my baby Mojave, all my feeder rats had escaped and were biting me, my beautiful female spider was on the verge of death and my boyfriend slammed a rat into the wall so hard it's guts went spewing everywhere.

Good thing it was only a dream <_<

I sometimes have reptile nightmares, usually involves expecting babies and things going wrong with a clutch, etc. Other times I have awesome dreams of hatching out lots of cool morphs... LOL but those are always a bummer to wake up from :)

How's Ursus doing? :)

I've only had two reptile related dreams so far.

One was the night after a snake I really loved died somewhat unexpectedly. I had this crazy dream that my boyfriend for some reason started to cut her up, and cut off most of her lower body only for her to come alive after and I was freaking out about how she was alive still but now she's cut and half and won't live or something. D:> It was a horrible dream because I was really upset about her death...

Then a few nights ago I had a dream I was rummaging through this bin of random stuff in a thrift shop and I opened up a shoe box to find five baby grayband kingsnakes in little containers inside the box, three of them dead and two looking like they would soon die. I was pissed off someone had somehow missed that a box came in with snakes in it, and told the clerk I would take them and take care of them. And in the dream I was somewhat secretly happy that I found something so awesome (baby snakes!) at a thrift shop, even if the situation did somewhat suck. (this was a few days I did stop in a local thrift shop for a look around and was disappointed not to find anything of interest)

I want to find baby snakes at a thrift store... well live ones anyway.

I blame this thread entirely for the nightmare I had last night.

I've had snakes on my mind alot recently since I have to get rid of mine before I move back in with my parents. I guess that explains all the nightmares.

So in my dream, I wake up and go over to my snakes tank and find her missing. I look around the immediate area and find the tip of her tail all fleshy. Next thing you know it's like CSI and I pull out that blacklight spray stuff that makes bodily fluids show up. It reveals blood all over my carpet and I follow it to my snakes head, mouth agape and still twitching like it was gasping for breath.

I woke up feeling very sad and gave my girl some extra love and attention today:

i have had dreams were i see a reptile i really want and i never ever seem to have the money on me lol its either always lost, stolen or something, now thats a nightmare! lol

Before I got my first snake Riley last week I had a few snake dreams where I was trying to take care of a snake or that I was failing to take care of a snake. I was super anxious about screwing up I guess, still a little anxious as I am a new. Boy am I glad I found Fauna so I can ask questions and stuff!

I do have nightmares with reptiles! I tend to have dreams that there are loose snakes in my house biting my toes from under the bed and stuff.

The worst dreams I have involve spiders. I am terrified of spiders and have semiawake dreams that they're crawling on my bed and stuff. I frequently knock myself out of bed because I get all jumpy when the dream spiders come to get me lol.

Nightmares...no. I did have a dream a while back that I was walking through a field and it was crawling with every Corn morph you could think of. I was giddy with excitement. And then I went into this house, which came out of no where, to discover a wide variety of Sand Boas. My wife told me I'd been talking in my sleep trying to convince her to let me keep them. Lol.

might nightmares about reptiles lately is me breeding my reptiles and everything is fine and it just fastforwards for a copule of mins and its finaly hatching time, suddenly all the parents die and the eggs hatch then die, their skins fall off and they are left as skeletons that raise up and start saying i killed them. right then an there i wake up in a cold sweat shaking and i go and check on every single animal in my family.

I've done the "wake up in a cold sweat to check up on your animals" thing. It usually happens between 3am and 5am. Most of my dreams involve my animals escaping, sometimes just a few, sometimes all of them at once. I collect them and put them back in their cages, and they continue to escape. The dream drive me absolutely insane when I have them, and I usually end up doing a cage-check in the reptile room, of each and every cage.

The other dream I have, involes one or more of my snakes consuming one of my beloved leopard geckos. Those are the ones that scare me the most.

Strange reptile dream last night. Started off with me and the property manager from work walking around outside looking at the flower beds... next thing I know there are snakes everywhere. I was running around trying to identify them all when I started finding all kinds of venomous ones. So the property manager gave me 100 dollars to catch and relocate them all or he told me he was going to "shoot them with a shotgun". I work at a restaurant so why we were outside around flower beds I have no idea. Also, why do my work dreams turn into reptile dreams. Strangest part of the dream was in the middle of the whole garden/snake field was a table with my laptop where I was logged on to Fauna and I was browsing the classifieds.... very strange...
