In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Dogs

Thanks, Lucille. Happy dog? Na.... a spoiled little turd, though.

I have checked around and cannot find anyone that has a beagle with similar eyes. Anyone here have any clue about this? Notice how the color change drastically from deep green to light brown? I wonder if this will have adverse affects in his senior years. I have posted in beagle oriented sites and even after a couple years, no responses.

I do not know why his eye color is different from most beagles. I would think that if you asked Texas A&M vet school they would look into it for you. They are a famous vet school here in Texas and are community resources. I know I've sent them email question about different stuff, mostly about plants to their agricultural community resources and they have always been very helpful.

I used to raise and show Beagles, and it looks to me like he has some "blue" Beagles in his background. The TRUE blues are a gorgeous, silvery grey color where most have the black, and their tan is a much lighter fawnish type color. Their eyes are a light greenish-tannish color (yeah, I know, big technical terms, lol) that almost look ghostly at times. They sometimes pass this on to a lesser degree to some of their more typically colored offspring. If I can find what the heck the kids did with my photo album, I'll post ya a pic of my favorite little blue girl I had. ;)

Jr has pierced ears. Sounds mean, I know, but it is actually for health reasons. He has a problem with yeast infections. No matter how I work to keep them clean and dry, the crud keeps returning. He's been to doctors all over the place and they keep giving him antibiotics, which make him sick. They've prescribed ear drops and cleaners, then his ears hurt and are bright red. One doc gave him some drops and within a couple hours they were so dry, they cracked and bled.

So, After changing his diet, and some other research, I also found it is caused by lack of clean dry air circulation. So, his ears are pierced and I ordered a long 16 gauge barbell so I can pin his ears over his head.

After a week or so of this, his ears cleared up. I also think his hearing has improved because that crud is not building up in the ear canal.

Getting the piercings proved to not be painful or bothersome, neither does pinning his ears over head. Maintaining the piercings is very easy, just rinse with peroxide every other day and I swap out his earrings once a week..

Unconventional, I know, but it works and I don't have to give him chemicals.

His eyes definately gets people's attention. I can read him pretty well, too. He has happy eyes and when I done wrong, I know when he gives me the evil eye.

I'm sure that doesn'y happen very often... :)

I get the evil eye when I don't cook want he wants, when I stay up later than he does, when I am busy working and can't play with him, when I am on the 'puter, when I am on the pooter, etc. LOL, pretty much any time I am not keeping him occupied.

that is really neat. I never realized that was an option. I have delt with alot of diffrent dog breeds that could have really benifited from this option.
I have seen some of the "nastiest" ear problems on dogs. They look so painful.
To be able to make an effective change, without drugs on an ongoing basis is wonderful.

What kind of stuff have you been using? Effective? Side effects?

The last thing tried was "Four Paws" ear cleaner. It is just drops, but after about three hours, it smells like sour milk and he shakes his head constantly. A look in the ear shows it to be bright red and swollen. I can see they are hurting and cracked dry, but not bleeding. The sour milk smell lasts about three-four days, the pain for a couple weeks.

Before resorting to piercings, I flushed his ears with 91%alcohol and pierced them straight away. Since then, no smell, no crud, no headshakes.

If you opt for this, know that the ear piercing is 18 gauge. The barbell used for tongue piercings is usually 14 gauge and that is a long stretch, so I special ordered the barbell in 16 gauge, the smallest diameter made.

After the first piercings healed, or settled, I use the 16 gauge stuff. For daytime usage, he has a set of ear rings that are actually bellybutton rings. Kind of half circular, but I ordered them in 16gauge and with screw on type ends. His are little red dice with metalic dots. His bedtime barbell has screw on ends, too, but they are round balls. The entire thing is 1.5 inches long and made from titanium. I pin his ears up about twice a week, other than that, he sports his dice. The picture shows his start up piercing studs. I will post a picture of his dice ear rings tommorrow.
