Paypal sucks I did not get an email or anything from them when someone that bought from me said it was fraud. I logged into paypal and it said something like sorry we did all that we could the money was withdrawn from your account dispute case closed. I ended up getting it settled with the buyer but no help from paypal. Use at your own risk!!!!!! Even months down the road they can claim fraud and paypal sides with them first. You might win later on down the road but its not worth the hassle to me.

Clint, do you still have the pictures that I am guessing you would have taken as proof?

Why would you do a charge back without first trying to work it out with the seller?

Who did you get your 30k butter from?

Has this thread, or do you think this thread will affect your ability to purchase reptiles online of through the mail in the future?

Clint, to call John a scammer would be far from fact. John has been a great seller as far as I have seen. I have never bought or sold anything with him, but I do know people who have.

You on the other hand claim that everyone knows you, I have never heard of you and I do sell ball pythons a good bit. I also know a good many of the top breeders.

It is also very hard for me to see where a driver would deliver a completely empty box that is soaked with rain, as well as destroyed.

I said that i thought at the time (received a box with no snake in it) i was the victim of a scam.... that is not to say i accuse john as a scammer. Further if you think UPS delivers all boxes in pristine condition, i think you may not have shipped in some time....I do not know John or anything about him. But in all my snake purchases(*and i dont know who you are either) i have never recieved a box with no snake in it. I purchased a $30,000. Butter from Jay Vella w/prehistoric pets (jay knows me) and no empty box phenom???? I bought a $10,000 pinstripe and a $10,000. cinny and a $15,000 het superstripe with BHB(Brian knows me well if you need a ref) and they were shipped FEDEX and again no empty box problem???? $15,000. supperpastel het IVORY with snake keeper(again fedex) (and yes DAn and Collette know me)and no empty box problem......
Further, I called JL the day of the incident!!!! and asked him what he wanted to do, i offered to put a claim in with ups. I offered him photos of the box(damaged and wet) ..He said no to my offers. I DO have the phone record on my cell phone bill to prove that i called. THe FACT is he shipped via an unauthorized method(NO LABEL) ?? there was NO SIGNATURE required... and he failed to either put styrofoam packing or NEwspaper or a Wire tie on the Pillowsack!! I would think you would be mad about his disregard for the snake...He is mad about the money but he doesnt even care enough about the snake to package it correctly (to protect the snake)....
And last but not least the facts DONT ADD UP!!!!!! who thinks paypal takes 3 months to process a chargeback or even allows a chargeback 3 months later?????? My credit card company doesnt allow disputes after 90 days!!!!! and if he cant access his PAYPAL account the only reason is because he owes them money or has done something FRAUDELENT.... why is it that he has no ups shipping record and no paypal no anything to prove his claim???? is everyone against him????
I am understanding of people trying to protect others against fraud....my first ball python transaction was with someone in AZ that i didnt know and stole over $10,000 from me on an albino ball transaction. however, It is slanderous and illegal to defame others without any proof whatsoever. Every one should be extremely cautious of defaming others when the accused has no chance to defend themselves???? No one asked john why he didnt pick up the phone and call me??? and i had no idea that someone was on a website defaming me until a friend noticed and called me. i thought it was a joke at first?/?

(2) Did you not know something was a miss when you got the box from the driver, an adult female ball is not the same weight as a empty box.

That said, you do have some very valid points above. I think John has a few questions to answer as well.

1. no i dont still have any pictures(wish i did) but i didnt see any reason since i called John and asked him if he wanted me to send him picts, help him file the claim , etc. and he said no. John shipped UPS and as you know they dont allow shipments of snakes (unless that has changed)so maybe he couldnt put a claim in??? Also, the reason he didnt label the box as such and this may be part of the problem. Most of my snakes come Delta dash or at least FEDEX. so im not too familiar with the pros / cons of UPS.
2. the box was left on my doorstep. The driver never nocked on my door and asked me to sign for it. I dont know if this (no signature) was an oversight on the driver's or if no signature was required. It's a gamble either way. With a signature you get verification of delivery but if the driver misses the customer the box rides around in the truck all day(until 5:00pm, i think) when it arrives at the ups office and can then be picked up. If your gonna ship UPS , best to ship with a Pre--10:00 am (morning delivery) shipment.
3. I have never had a snake somehow get out of the box/ or bag. This doesnt seem possible to me and i still dont understand what happened. At first, i thought maybe john got distracted when packaging the snake/box i.e. multiple shipments, different boxes, etc. and he still had the snake. But i called him and he said he shipped it, so i dont get it? and since we talked on the phone, i really dont understand this whole blast on me.
4. Defamation. I dont mind questions. but dont they have to be asked of me? i mean if someone is slandering you on some internet site that you are not aware of and cant defend yourself against is that really a good thing? I know our intentions are to protect our friends, but the road to the truth can be unclear at first blush. I dont rush to judgement as quick as i used to (getting older), i find most of my problems( im in business for myself: construction) come from misunderstanding/ miscomunication.
5. the thing that bothers me is i have the same phone number, address, email, etc. why didnt John contact me?
6. I do however appreciate you giving me an opportunity to present my views/facts, etc.

Kind of OT, but everyone that uses paypal needs to be aware that there are a lot of problems with it. There is a website dedicated to issues like this where sellers are charged back like this. It actually happens quite frequently.

Clint, I do not know John anymore than you. I do have a few friends that have dealt with him and were happy.

That said, thank you for answering the questions. I think John needs to come back to this thread and address these issues regarding his statements above in the beginning of this thread.

This thread is old as dirt and I truly wish that I would of known that Clint posted a reply. I can't help but laugh at the crap he has written. I don't expect a copy of his cell phone bill at this point but I will say 100% that what he has said regarding calling me with no snake in the box total crap! I did not receive one phone call from Clint. In fact every time I called there was no answer! Clint sure is playing Mr. Good guy but please don't be fooled by that crap. A signature was required for the ball python. I don't know why anyone would drop off a soaked box with nothing inside on a door step. Nothing Clint has said adds up! I have been around a long time and have built a good rep here on fauna and else where. I can't get into other peoples dealings with this guy as your not allowed to talk 3rd party deals. I will say there are many more people whom have had issues. I don't commonly use zip ties for non-venomous snakes. There is no reason for it. A simple overhand knot does the trick. Clint we Never spoke on the phone, you NEVER answered the phone! Sorry man but this is far from Slander! As far as I know you kept my animal, Lied to Paypal and your Credit Card company, and cost me money! Clint I had tried to contact you over and over with no reply. This is obviously not going to go anywhere because it's so old but I needed to come back on here and post a reply. It wasn't until ANOTHER friend called me and had mentioned this thread that I thought to check it out. I thought Clint was one of those One time Wonders whom screwed people and took off never to be heard again. I guess he's still around? Sad but true I still want this story out there because I surely will never deal with this guy. Really don't care how much money you have spent with other people or what you have purchased, you can still be a scum bag on a $1 bag of chips. It's the point, not the amount. You Screwed me, end of story! Again I have a good rep and stand behind my animals! You could of easily made this right but you did not choose to do so. Still your story doesn't add up. The fact that paypal said you told them you didn't make a purchase among everything else is just crazy. You really can't defend yourself here. Lastly as I said earlier it's pointless to carry this on, I made mistakes and learned to always keep good records! Hope this doesn't happen to anyone else with a far larger amount!

What I find really funny is my last post was 5/23/2005 it wasn't until 3/16/2007 that Clint decided to come on here and post. Time does heal all wounds but I will NEVER forget or Deal with Clint ever again!

Further more I did not call you, you answered an Ad that I had up. I don't make cold calls to people I don't know! I will openly admit when I was younger I did not ship up to par. I never had an issue with animals arriving in good health. My shipping methods today are top notch. I'd rather spent the extra money to ensure the animals safety. I wish my business practices back then were like they were today. I was young and as you get old you see the light. I'm 25yrs old now and I'm happy I've been around as long as I have. I certainly don't have any plans of going way anytime soon!
