I know Al, great title of the thread !! LOL !! But, it seems too many people look over good guy threads and I wanted a chance to draw people in.

I worked out a deal with Al. He drove half way to meet me. Very nice guy to talk too, got a great deal and Im always pleased to get more than I paid for. The aniamls are TOP notch !! As long as that Pastel goes back on feed soon ! LOL !

And trust me. Al's pictures STINK ! His animals are MUCH better in hand. If he has something you want, give him a try. I can recommend him and hope to do more deals with him in the future. Thanks Al !!

Thats pretty clever, but I dont know that I would want a post on my busiess that way. However I did enjoy it, and Im glad it turned out to be a GOOD GUY POST after all. When I seen your name, and Bad guy attached, I figured I would look to see "who got Joe" so I guess it does work.

Maybe your right, but I disagree. I never titled it "Bad Guy" or the like. I simply put "Watch out for this joker" and explained my comment by stating: "If your looking for junk then dont deal with this joker".

Did I throw a curve into it ? You bet. At the time of the post I was again reading all the "Bad Guy" threads. Some that just keep getting put up to the top with no real new info. I went back several pages and seen the few "Good Guy" threads. Then looked at the hits on the treads. I personally read most, if not all, of the "Good Guy" threads. But, look at the hits and you'll see that's not the norm here. Dirt is what people want to read. If I was a newbie and went to this sight, Id NEVER buy online.

Did I spice it up to draw viewers in ? You bet. Did I lie and state he was a "bad Guy" ? Not to me. A good guy "Drama" thread. God forbid ! But, hey if it back fire's on ME, so be it. As long as its not on Al or our deal. I think the people who chime in their "2 cents" to a thread NUMEROUS of times, when their not involved in the dispute, are hurting this site more than this thread. It eats up bandwith and when someone see's a update to a "Bad Guy" thread it draws them in, only to read from someone not involved adding their 2 cents. Wouldnt you agree Mickey ? Is it wrong ? No. Its America darn it. But, it is a waste of time ? To me it is if it has nothing to add to the thread.

I guess I just don't think its a good "business" to draw one's self into a thread that has no impact on me or I had no dealings with the parties invloved.

Is the BOI perfect ? No way. But, it is the best tool we have and I thank Rich for providing it. That man has to put up with more BS than I ever wish too. And Mods like Ken Harbert keep it going. They can keep those jobs !! LOL !!

I prefer to keep mine on if it gets me the quality animals Ive gotten from so many people (including you Ron).

Bottomline, I had a great deal and wanted to share with the Fauna members. If Ken or Rich feels it needs retitled, Ill do it, no problem.

Honestly all bs aside, I had to chime in my cents on a thread I had nothing to do with....LMAO....Like I said in the first one I thought maybe you did get taken, and knowing you personally, I felt I should see the story.

I am like you and perfer to see good guy threads. While I do tend to chime in from time to time o threads I have no involvment in, you may also notice I am more prone to post good guy threads, and always make a point to add to ones started by otheres that involve people I know.

I agree any newbie coming on this site may get he impression that there are more "bad guys" then "good guys" in this business, but it is human nature for people to assosiate more with the bad then the good. Sad but true.

Anyways, I did get a kick out of it.

I agree it is funny, and hey if my posting adds to this thread to help make it one of the most seen good guy threads, then glad I could help...lol.

And I know calling someone a JOKER is not a bad thing, just the dont deal with part kinda stuck out...but as I can see, its all good.

No problem, but I was really addressing it in general. I wanted to do 2 things.

1) Give praise were it was needed. I know Al doesn't sell at the volume I and many others sell at. I was actually suprised some of his Ball Pythons didnt fly off the shelf I had bought. They are HIGH demand morphs. I just wanted it exposed for all to see. It can only help Al out when someone inquires. He seems like a nice guy. We talked on the phone for good time and though our meeting was brief, I meet him face to face. and

2) Open a few eyes up. Yes, I had a little selfish motive behind it too (sorry Al I used ya buddy). But, I wanted some viewers to see that way too much time is focused on the negative. I wanted someone to pop open a "Good Guy" thread for once. Hoping for some dirt only to find a positive thread. If they left ticked off by it, well its just someone Id rather not deal with then.

If all that isnt enough, then here's the proof, and these guys need to be noticed for they went out of their way and made a happy customer. Next in youll notice I put how many hits it got.

Joe Reagan (Good Guy).. 10 HITS !! WOW
Davey Fig (Good Guy).. 80 HITS !! The most in several days.
Eric Lago (Good Guy).. 10 HITS !! Another wopper

NOW look how many hits this thread has !!

NOW look how many hits the most recent "Bad Guy" thread has !

NOW ask you self how many "Bad Guy" Threads pop up in your head at this very moment. I bet any member will at least state up to 10 ++ names EASY. Now ask the same question about "Good Guy" threads and BE specific on details of whats in those threads (sorry its just too easy to say Ben Siegel, VPI, NERD, etc). I bet you may remember 1 or 2 on average.

I never dealt with any of the guys listed above, but its a shame, their threads arent more noticed. For all the rip off artist, everyone is glued on whats being said next. Yes, Im guilty of it too. But take a second and actually read a "Good Guy" thread. Give notice to the ones that really deserve it (at least in my book).

No wonder some of these "Bad Guys" come back stating how great their business is doing because of a bad thread. Believe it or not, it may be true. Some people may actually side with them. Any public display (no matter how bad) does some people a great benefit. Just ask Janet Jacksons boobs !! Id love to see what her record sales will be when the album's released. LOL !!

Sorry to of directed it soley at you Mickey, but the comment you made proved my case. If only one person views this and give one more "Good Guy" post a read, that they normally would of passed up, then I did what I wanted to do I guess. It was a something I had to vent. Im done now !! Back to the "Bad Guy" thread !! LOL !!

OH ! did I mention I was happy with my deal with Al ??
 
I visit every thread, good or bad, and post every time I have dealt with one of the good guys (including you Joe! ;)

The way I see it is not that there is not interest on the good guys. The fact is we take the good guys for granted. When you posted this on Al, without even opening I new there was something wrong with it. This is just because although having never met Al personally it seems as if I already know him through several e-mail exchanges and the chat room.

I personally read most, if not all, of the "Good Guy" threads. But, look at the hits and you'll see that's not the norm here. Dirt is what people want to read.

There are some people that are attracted by the "bad news", no doubt about it. But my interpretiation is slightly different.

In MHO there is a lot of people that go to those "bad guy threads" in the hope they can help out someone in need. Maybe I'm a little naive but thats my reading on it. Some have probably gone through that same situation and understand what the scammed person is feeling and want to help if possible. I probably rather see that than the one that sits quietly not caring or maybe even enjoying what's happening to another person without trying to help out. It's like when an accident happen. You never met the person thatr's lying by the roadside. One has two options speed up and keep going, or stop and try to give a hand.


In a good guy thread if you have never dealt with the individual it's impossible to help out, in fact there is no need to. But, there's no doubt it will be checked out when the moment of dealing with that individual comes.

Just my opinion.

How many have you seen turn into completely different than what is titled in the thread ? Though I never intended it, it seems like Im guility right in this thread, but at least with good intent.

Were talkig about a thread not human life Daniel. I would hope most would pull over. But, I wouldnt pull over if the EMT's are on sight. Why ?? Try it sometime. Ive been in ride alongs with my brother and at a scene the EMT's and police will ask you to leave. Why ? Your getting in the way ! And using your "example" (assuming NO help is on site) its exactly the people who would drive by that this was about and NOT about the people who would pull over and try and assist.

I hope Al gets more sales because now I see it taking on a life of its own. Do I get a cut ?? LOL !!

I disagree totally. You can learn alot from a good guy thread. Read each one instead of just using it when it benefits you. Ive use them to rethink policys or how they handled a situation if it arose. I view the out come and adopt it as policy if I feel the deal went great. Everyone continues to change and I personally look out on how to better expand myself or my business.

How about the few that chime in on how awful they feel about someone getting scammed, or how much of chithead a dealer is, etc. that have nothing useful to add. Actually post on a good guy thread and thank the person who started the thread ? Or the seller who supplied great service ? Better time spent instead of name calling. IMO.
 
I have to say that this thread header is very catchy. I was going to jump into the thread with all defendant that I have, and I am glad it's a good guy post indeed.

I had one deal with Al last year, and I am ABSOLUTELY happy with the deal. Al's communication is great! He's very professional and very pleasant to deal with! His python is GORGEOUS, and his packing/shipping is excellent! Definitely a GREAT GUY in this hobby.

P/s: I agree that BAD GUY posts are more catchy to me than good one. One, I want to learn whom I should stay away from. Two, I am more than happy to defend a good guy's name that got slander.;)
 
Mickey, The one thing that confuses me the most about this is why you would post the reply you did AFTER I already posted and made it pretty clear that I thought the header was funny as hell.
 
The other side of your coin, joe, is that a lot of the people who read fauna are not bigtime breeders or dealers. There are some names out there like Al's that have no negative connections to them. They may not be the most advertised or visual but they are seen occasionally and never with an explanation about how things were mis-reresented or the wrong sex or any thing else bad.

The curiousity factor is big with all primates. They WANT to see what went wrong, the blood and guts as it were. Who stops to sparrow feed her babies? Here in L. A. almost no one but, ALMOST everyone tries to see the car wrecks they pass on the way home everyday. It's just the way we're wired.

When I see a good guy thread, especially if it's someone I've already gotten a clue about, as in having seen the way they post here on other threads or having sent animals to someone I know or even having done business with them myself, I don't always stop to read the post because I already agree with the statement. But, I do make a mental note of another good deal by that guy. I suspect it's that way for a lot of the readers here. Just because a good guy post doesn't have hundreds of hits doesn't mean hundreds of people aren't aware of it.

Sorry Al, I meant that someone like you NEVER has to make excuses like the above as to why things went wrong. I don't think I've ever heard of something not being perfect where you're concerned.

The good guys don't need to make excuses, their animals and service speak for themselves.

I presume everyone is good.
So I let the good threads go.

But when someone gets posted bad...I check it .....thinking ......"what and who now?"

Also when I deal with someone......I do not really check if they have good threads.
I check if they have bad threads.

Because if they have good threads...I will not really now. but I am willing to add to them if they are there.

If they have nothing but bad threads......I will not be one of those to give them my business and add to their negative threads.

But there are exceptions. some bad guys have turned good.

I had to "chime in on the thread" after your post for the simple reason, I thought it was a clever post.

As I said in the beggining, I would like to think Joe and I are somewhat friends, atleast more then aquantences. As such whenever his name pops up here I check it out. I have about 100 people I do the same thing with.

Also as I said in the first post, I thought it was a clever thing to do, however I wasnt sure I woud want it done towards me. Thats just my opinion. I wasnt dogging Joe, or you. In fact Ive never met or heard of you that Im aware of (sorry Im not a python guy at all). In fact I was just helping do what Joe wanted done, make this Good Guy Thread the size of a normal bad guy one.

Now the reason I say Im not sure I would have wanted the title attached to my business is this. Some people are VERY LAZY and as such a title like AVOID THE LIZARD KING REPTILES....HES A JOKE (or something similar, I know that wasnt the exact title) MAY be enough to drive away that one customer. Now granted its unlikely, but still it is a risk. Thats all I was saying.

Hope I havent pissed on any shoes here, was not the intention.
