    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I have been trying to get into contact with Doug Mong for the months and months. He does not reply to my messages on FaceBook, e-mail or my phone calls..... I would like to have a little help with contacting him myself.

Hi Fred, I spoke with Doug on the 1st of July and prior to that I had been trying to get ahold of him for month.

I don't have all the details myself and don't mean to speculate but I know many people, even friends within the hobby have been unable to reach him, he's sold off a lot of his collection (if not all) and may be in some type of trouble.

I purchased a pair of Mazatlan sinaloae from him but have yet to see an animal. When told that he didn't have the money to ship (after I already paid) I offered to pay shipping a second time and even send shipping materials to him and that's when he disappeared on me again.

I hope all this is a temporary thing and he comes forward with an explanation once he has things squared away because his once good (depending on how sensitive your feelings are) reputation is in the tank.

Jimmy Tintle is in a similar boat right now and he owes me a female "blanchardi". Though I've heard he has just "shut down operations" this year so I'm much more hopeful regarding him getting me my animal at some point.
 
Wow, I never saw this coming. Seriously. Doug has been a fixture for the colubrid community for a while now. I have purchased several animals from Doug in the past and he has always been a pleasure to deal with. I even have his book and gave it an awesome review on this site. Back in 2013 I gave doug a deposit for a pair of extreme hypo Honduran . That year his female slugged out. He was quick to contact me and let me know what had happened. I said no worries let's wait for next year. The following year the female slugged out again. I told Doug again don't worry about I can wait again for this year. Sometime this spring a buddy told me that Doug had just sold an adult breeding pair of extreme hypos on colubrid FB group. I thought that was odd considering I was waiting on a pair of hatchlings from those exact animals. I have been trying to get in touch with Doug via , email, and here on Fauna for the past 4-5 months and have not heard squat. I still have the USPS money order stub for the $150 I sent him almost 3 years ago! I really hope the best for him. Hopefully there is a rational explanation for his behavior.
 
yeah, I didn't see it coming either. I had been talking with Doug for years about various snake things... I figured he'd be the last guy to burn me. I sure was wrong.
 
I bought a pair of the moonshine morph greenish ratsnakes from Doug back in May (and a Juvie). After I sent him the money, he said at first he didn't have the money to ship, then managed to get it. The snakes came in Good shape, but too skinny to breed this year. I get the impression something's going on, serious, but no idea what, but I wouldn't buy from him right now. Hope he gets things straightened out, he seems very knowledgeable and an asset to the hobby
 
Doug was still pretty active on a fb group called colubrid crazy up until about June, then just seemed to drop off the face of the planet.
Have not seen a single post by him or heard from since that time.
It sounds like it can only be something pretty serious which is a huge blow to the community.
