Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Been a pretty interesting ride the last couple of days. I learned more about DDOS (distributed denial of service) attacks than I ever really wanted to know about. Apparently that is what has been launched against FaunaClassifieds.

My guess is that someone uncovered by the rock they were under via the BOI is really upset with us, or perhaps someone who got themselves banned when crying to big brother to launch this attack against the site.

I'm moved the site to a server in a data center better able to handle this sort of thing than the previous data center. Things are REAL SLOW, but at least we are still breathing. There are other options I can do if the slowness persists for too long that should help, but for now I'm in a holding pattern to see how things go.

As a last resort, I can always move the entire site to one of the many spare domain names I have reserved, so the BOI itself will NOT go away, regardless.

I've contacted the FBI Internet Crimes Division about this and am also gathering data that can be used to track down the actual source of the attacks and ultimately the person responsible. There is an organization out there dedicated to putting these kinds of people behind bars, and I will be working closely with them.

Sorry about this, but apparently the bad guys are trying REAL hard to shut this site down so we won't be a burr under their saddle any longer. But I have news for them, all they are doing is pissing me off and making my resolve all the stronger to keep up the pressure on them. I BUILT this site because someone pissed me off, so pissing me off NOW has shaken me out of my funk I had over the last several months about this site. If it is so important to YOU to get this site shut down, then all the more reason for me to keep it UP and after YOUR butt.

So take your best shot. The evidence here will NEVER go away, bud. :reddevil:

Better slow than not at all Rich. Hopefully you can find out who did it. It would seem the BOI is doing its job if they went that route to stop it.
 
Things were looking pretty bad earlier today, but I found someone who appears to be a genuine guru with DDoS attacks. I gave him the keys to my dead server and told him to take a stab at it. 10 minutes later we're up and flying.

Hopefully he has it licked. Got my fingers crossed. :thumbsup:
 
Given enough time, the scumbag who initiated the attack will run his mouth to someone to brag about it. Eventually the guilty party will come to light and if he thinks the BOI was a hindrance before, he ain't seen nothing yet
 
Yeah, I'm astonished. The data center had all but given up on this and this guy I hired in jumps in and in less than 10 minutes had the site looking like nothing had ever gone wrong. Of course the techs at the data center are acting huffy about it.... :rofl:

There really ARE magicians out there, I guess.

i was reading about this stuff too, and one site mentioned that a server would have to be dedicated to recording all the packets sent, is that what you were doing/thinking of having done?

Its interesting stuff... id like to know more :)
 
I am glad to see everything back up :) I agree there are some people who know how to "talk" to the computer and get it to tell them anything it knows
 
DoS Attacks suck bro. It has happened to me twice now.

Wow this site is zippy now. I was going to ask if we needed to limit our usage until you got it 100% but it doesn't appear that it is necessary. Glad your back.
 
OMG Rich! I'm so glad you found the guru....I thought I had something messed up on my end the first night but then not being able to log on persisted and I knew it was bad. Good luck with sniffing the scumbag out. I hope the FBI takes him down! I'm really glad you're back up and rockin!

Next question.....can your new magician ferret out who did it? It can be backtracked~ somehow or another (probably the smart people know how).

OMG!! I can finally get on. It's been down here for almost 48 hours. So nice to have this site back. Funny I never realized how much this site meant to me till it was gone.
