Jay is a stand-up guy who I'd be proud to vouch for any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I admire Jay's restraint on this matter, for he has put up with a tremendous amount of crap from his antagonists. Heck, none of their outrageously libelous comments were directed at me, and I still found them infuriating, as did many other people who know Jay.

The way I see it, there are a few victims here. The first is Jay. Second is Bob Clark, who endured Brett's trolling, trash-talking, and Peta-esque pseudoreasoning on his own site. Third are all of the members of redtailboa.net, who are inevitably going to be judged by the actions of these two individuals. As I told Shane, it's unfortunate that a couple bad apples are going to be spoiling it for everyone.

BUSINESS related transaction with Dr. Jay Owens, then by all means please post it here.

In the interest of bringing this thread within the actual confines of the BOI, I have had a business transaction with Dr. Jay Owens.
I purchased a male het. retic. After a minor delay due to extreme heat on both sides of the transaction, he arrived well packed, 100% healthy, exceptionaly well tempered and in overall fantastic condition.

In fact I can honestly say the retic far exceeded my expectations & was better than advertised in looks, temperment & health.

As a side note, when it came to after sale support Dr. Owens has provided excellent customer service & advice when needed, not just with the retic that I bought from him but for my other herps as well.

I will just say this, absolutly shamless that a friend and person of true quality should have to undergo BS of this nature. The BOI is for bad guys and keeping them in check, Dr. Jay Owens is no bad guy. I have done business with him and he is top notch and good to his word. What else is there to say? Get off the poor guys ass, this whole thread is just wrong. I dont care what is said behind me I will not post again but in defence of not only a friend but a good human being and a helper not as a hinderence to this hobby I must say this is wrong and unjust.

I as well have done buisness with Jay and have been lucky enough to see his facility a couple times. Not only have our buisness transactions gone great but hes got some awesome animals. All his animals were healthy as can be, clean cages, clean water etc. One of the animals I have gotten from him an adult female Dumerils is got to be the best looking female I have ever had. Just an all out smoking animal, shes doing great and Im hoping shes gravid, theres promise but I am not really sure yet. Anyway Jay thanks for the awesome female!!!!!!!!!

He comes highly recomended to all.

While the intial post that started the thread is off base and childish, the thread has shown a lot of people about Dr Owen's behavior (good in my opinion and I had never dealt with him previously) and those that posted against him.

Believe me, no one wanted to delete this thread more than I did. But who would have been served best had I done that? I know this is hard for the audience to take sometimes, but I have seen self hangings like this happen more times than I can count.

Usually the next step is for us all to be accused of being a clique by the self-hung.

On topic:
I have had business dealings with Jay in the past, and the female AfRock I purchased far outreached my expectations. One of the most beautiful AfRocks I have seen in 10 years (and for those that know me, I do NOT say that often) The snake eats great, is fairly even tempered (especially for an AfRock), and I can not be more pleased with the customer service. In fact, I am in the process of purchasing 2 hets from him as well, and Jay is the most patient person I have ever dealt with in this business. He understands the money problems of a college student, and has been completely willing to let me make payments over time.

Off topic:
Funny how I posted on RTB, and it was deleted. All I asked for was some evidence to prove what they are saying about BD. And since they were quoting heavily from VPI, and burms, I thought it was interesting that VPI also bought granites from a good friend of mine this last fall...just something to think about.

Jay is an excellent guy. He has been helping me with a personal illness, and is always there to talk to about treatment options, or just to talk. I would trust Jay with my life, and that is also not something I would say about most people.

Shame on you little man.. Dr Jay Owens is one of the most honest nicest people I have ever met and it is a HONOR to call him my friend. Dr. Owens has forgotten more then you will ever know. I am just so upset I am shaking. How dare you do this to him. You can dish it out but you can't take it huh. Dr Owens has already proven he is more of a man then you will ever be with the restraint he has showen. Just as an aside, the BOI actually DOES work, folks!

Yes, it is aggrivating that there are those who unjustly attack someone of good character, but that goes on whether a thread like this is in existance or not. However, if threads like this one were NOT in existence, what would NOT have been available, were things like:

1. All of those who are friends/collegues/business contacts with Dr. Owens letting those who wish to make future inquiries have a thread to which to turn

2. Dr. Owens showing, without any doubt, that he is in fact a "Doctor" and deserving of that title

3. A thread that shows ReticEd and Julius Squeezer to be what they truly are in regards to Dr. Owens: ignorant, petty, and continually dogged in striving for both ignorance and pettiness

4. A thread that shows that no one, not even a moderator is above being examined by the BOI

5. A thread that shows that good guys have nothing to fear from such an examination

6. A semi-long thread that is NOT about anyone living with 500 miles of Tampa!

For each of those reasons, I am glad that this thread is here. I am sorry that Dr. Owens (whom I do not know, personally, but have spoken to via email and hope to meet at the next KC show), has had to suffer the idiocy of some, but in the end, the benefits of threads such as these outweigh the temporary inconvenience.

I applaud Dr. Owens' ability and willingness to handle absurdity with cool-headed responses, when a counter attack must have been all too tempting. Well done!

I'm certain you don't concisely or administratively mean for that to be the case, but people are leaving RTB because of Brett's behavior. He's uses his position there to attack people who disagree with him or whom he simply dislikes, repeatedly and maliciously. When your own concerned member protest in a direct reaction to him and his words it's moved off. RTB provides him a usable platform at minimum, however unintentional...

Here’s a few more examples of the quality in Brett’s character, more of an ADMIN of a site being a TROLL on another site…

...there were many many more, some with real clever little names like "Blob Clark" - yeah, a real quality guy.

If what you say is true, then why was my account at RTB.net deleted yesterday? Especially since I haven't posted on that site in months, and unlike your admins, I have never once trolled on your forum.

Incidentally, I am not the only one who has had their account deleted in the last few days. I know of several other people who also have had their accounts deleted because they spoke out against Brett and/or Eddie either here or on the BCF.

Your statement here is not consistent with the actions of your forum leadership.

As I told Shane, I personally bear no ill towards him or the RTB community as a whole, and it is unfortunate that the actions of Eddie and Brett are spoiling it for the RTB community as a whole. Their actions, even though they were off-site, created a perceptual liability for RTB.

An issue that I have is that I posted on RTB yesteday morning that I was resigning my membership due to this campaign of libel and defamation that Eddie and Brett have undertaken. I did not mention names, nor do I believe my post was in the least bit inflammatory. It was, however, deleted rather quickly. That left a very bad taste in my mouth, along with the impression that their piss poor behavior was being swept under the rug. I'm actually kind of curious as to who deleted it, though.

Now, I pretty much bit my tongue whenever I saw Brett carry on with his PeTA-esque rants and attacks on Bob Clark (IIRC, wasn't Bob one of the first to trade banners with and support RTB?), NERD, etc. Heck, I even kept quiet during his presentaions of opinios as facts. However, he and Eddie stepped over the line when they attacked Jay accused him of misrepresenting himself, and even implied that he's a criminal.

That being said, Brett stepped way over that line, seemingly to the point of no return, when he opted to bring mention of Jay's father, who is terminally ill, into the fracas. No apology pecked out on a keyboard can right that wrong.

Donnie, while I have nothing against RTB as a community, I do have serious issues with an admin or two. I cannot, in good faith, fully support RTB while persons of such low character and class are among its leadership. Should things change over there, I won't hesitate to come back and be a regular participant.

Since you seem to have an interest in how things are run at RTB.net, you should know that I spoke with my attorney today and if these libelous personal attacks against me do not cease, then I will be pursuing legal remedies against the owner of RTB.net and it's administrators.

I regret that it might come to this, but the actions of your admins have been so out of line, that I feel that I have no other recourse. I can assure you that I will take whatever measures are necessary to defend my honor.
