Disclaimer: Two months ago marked my first experience selling animals on here. This should be a lesson to newbies and people who put too much faith in others.
Hate to do this Joe but we have unfinished business. On May 6th, I drove from Chicago up to Wisconsin to meet with Drifter herps (Joe). Joe and I had discussed the downsizing of my collection and he agreed to take 3 of my rosy boas for the price of $140. We talked many times before the actually transaction took place and came to a price on the snakes. I loaded up the snakes and drove up to meet him.
1 1/2 hours into the 2 1/2 hour drive I get a message that Joe does not have a check, cash or any payment for me. After talking with him for over a week it seemed to me Joe was an honest enough guy. A guy who told me he uses many of his animals for education at local schools and whatnot. I was glad my rosies were going to a good home where they could be utilized for something other than just breeding.
With this trust in my new acquaintance, I told Joe I would give him the snakes and he could send me a check or money order that same week. We exchanged the animals, shook hands and drove off. I texted him the following day telling him it was nice to meet him and that I was glad he was going to use the snakes for education purposes. I also sent him my full contact information so he could send me the payment. No response.
Cut to six weeks later. After multiple text messages and emails on fauna in an attempt to contact him, I have heard nothing back which leads me to believe the worst. I never received payment for the animals and Joe has made no effort to contact me even after I tried multiple times to contact him.
Granted I am at fault here for not asking for payment up front, but after talking with him it seemed like he was genuine enough. Unfortunately that was not the case and I got the shaft. If it took a few days or even a week for him to respond back I might let that slide. If he sent me a message saying he'd be out of town, I'd let that slide. But radio silence for this long is unacceptable. And what really pisses me off is I have no idea what happened to my animals. If they were flipped, if they are still in his possession or what. So if you're reading this Joe, I'd still like the payment we agreed upon and would at least like to know my animals weren't immediately flipped when you received them.
