• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

First off I'm not even sure if that's what these are called.
Second, if this has already been discussed I apologize. I tried looking around a bit but who knows. :shrug01:

Only recently I have noticed certain words in threads (including reply's) that are bringing up ads or links for other things.
Is this new?

It seems as though many are not even advertisements as the links do not lead to anything for sale. I have seen those as well though.

Here is a screen shot of what I'm talking about...

I'm also NOT to good on a computer so could this be something on my end? Pop up blocker no longer working?

Note: You have to hold the mouse over the word so it's not like it's a problem or anything,
I was more just wondering out of curiosity.
Above, I was holding my cursor over the word "diabetes"

After doing a quick google search, I've found out I would have liked it better if you two would have just lied to me!

What a way to ruin my day, brand new computers with anti virus...and now this. Ugh! :ack2:

Thanks alot for clearing that up and Vanessa thanks alot for the link! Not sure exactly what to do but I've already began adding a few of those anti apyware's and running some scans.

*I wonder who all is watching me write this!:erm:*

Wouldn't you know it!...no more link!
A BIG thank you to you Vanessa, I literally never would have even came close to figuring that out.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
I must ask though, did you just have that like sitting around? Or did you find it in a google search? I usually use google for anything and everything, but when it comes to something tedious, link after link, downloading, installing, and running cleaner programs...I just don't even try.

Thanks again, I feel a bit better for the time being, we'll see what happens from here.

Lol, no problem, glad to help! I just did a search on google for "hyperlinked texts turning into ads" or something like that and searched through a few options until I felt there was enough information present at one place to help you out.

If you haven't used Firefox NoScript before, I highly recommend it! I haven't used antivirus software in years because NoScript by default shuts all scripts off; you have to literally teach it what is safe and what is not. It takes a little bit of time to teach it, but well worth it in the long run! It's completely free and runs in the background for Firefox.

Wow! Sounds confusing!!

I'm going to check it out though, we got two new computers recently so I'll throw it on one until I get it figured out.

I appreciate you taking the time to search.
Thanks again for everything.
