So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Bad Guy DTS Herps

What I find the most telling is that in almost every email that a customer sends Dan regarding a problem, Dan shows no concern, compassion or professionalism at all. He instantly starts blaming the customer for everything. I am not talking about Dan's posts in a thread... I am talking about the actual emails to customers. I can only imagine what phone calls are like.

That attitude alone tells me not to do business with the Dan. Because if there is a real problem, Dan sure has no intentions what so ever of trying to make things right or come to a fair resolution. He has your money so he no longer cares.

I dont know what else really needs to be said about the guy.

I completely agree, Sammy. And if you purchase from Dan, and your dissatisfaction necessitates a BOI thread regarding the transaction, you can expect him to start a retaliatory "Bad Guy" thread about YOU. Who needs the risk and hassle of dealing with a guy like that?
 
I was involved in the last big "DTS Bad Guy" thread about the possible IBD snakes, and have since stayed away from anything regarding Dan and his business practices. To refresh your memory (mostly Dan's), I was the "nice lady" that called the gentlemen who purchased the other pair of snakes that were bagged with the snakes in question in that thread.

I have read this thread twice now, to make sure I have a grip on things, and here is my main outlook on everything, as an outsider who has never done business with any of the parties involved in either thread.

1. Dan needs to do exactly what Harald suggested and start responding in a professional manner. Dan, the thing is, no matter how many times you say "I do it this way to piss off certain people," what you are not realizing is that, as an outsider, you come across as looking at EVERYONE as idiots. Maggie (Lakeside Boas) is someone I have come to respect a lot, and even she mentioned catching more flies with honey, etc. Dan, the thing is, you need to learn to be the bigger person, whether you are right or wrong in the threads about you, and just be professional. It really does affect how people see you, and many will choose whether or not they do business with you solely on how you react to bad situations. Even if you were proved right in every instance of something posted about you, I, for one (among MANY) would never do business with you simply because of your unprofessional attitude toward others.
2. In this particular instance, I do not think that Scott (Kingetula) was trying to "get" anything from Dan, he even stated that in his first post. I think the "heat of the moment" got him, and the argument started. I honestly believe, after seeing him post many times throughout the BOI on other issues, that if he would have had an issue he felt worthy of fighting over, he would have started this fight a long time ago in his own thread and done so with the proof he needed to "make it stick" better. I honestly believe he was just posting to share an experience and Dan was able to turn the entire thread around into something it was not meant to be to take the focus off of the issue at hand. We all know how good he is at that.
3. This whole situation with Andy was handled wrong - by both parties. Andy should have never sold that snake and expected Dan to handle any problems, but at least he has tried to retract the PayPal mistake to show this. Dan, on the other hand, needs to (once again) realize that an unhappy customer needs to be handled with kid gloves, as bad press spreads 10xs faster than good press in ANYTHING. Sure, the kid made a mistake, but at least he has owned up to his mistakes. Dan, as usual, refuses to acknowledge any mistake on his part, and refuses to answer questions. Bad business no matter how you look at it.

Dan, you can go ahead and call me names for not seeing your side, whatever you want to do. You can kiss my ass like you tried to do for awhile in the other thread, whatever you want to do. Fact is, your unprofessional attitude online causes a lot of people to think twice about doing business with you, even when you do seem to have a good diverse stock. Sure, you might still do 1000's of sales, and that might be good enough to you, but personally, I could never sell myself down the river over a few issues just to say "I'm right" all the time.

I totally agree with everything you just said Kelly. I am relatively new to this site but have read many posts before ever posting the first time. I had read many on DTS Herps and Dan. I saw first hand how Dan has reacted in the past to others who have posted in those threads.
To be honest, I expected him to go off on me every time I posted in this thread but he never did.

Here is my take on it, for what its worth. When you have an issue with a customer, deal with it privately, just you and the customer. Do your very best to not have that issue hit the BOI. Document EVERYTHING regarding the issue and then if it does get posted here, you can back up what you are saying. Try not to cop an attitude and get defensive. As soon as you start name calling and accusing its hard for anyone to care if you get screwed over or not.
Honestly, you might have some of the best examples of some species, you might have the biggest variety of species, but many, many people are not going to shop with you because of fear of the attitude they have seen here.
So, thats my 2 cents, for what its worth.
 
Any chance someone who can check exif data can look at the date the photos were taken and compare it to the date they were delivered?

The exif data of the 5 snakes together on the rocks is:

All the other photos I checked have no exif data.

noe Response from DTS. 10-6-08 I opened the dispute claim with DTS. which I unfortunatly made a mistake and thought I was putting the dipute up for 75.00 of which I would like to get reimbursed for the egg eater that deid in 3 day's. I paid 150.00 for the pair and 50.00 shipping which is where the 200.00 is coming from on the paypal thing. (my money. not Scott's or anyones else's)
So I guess I am just a theif and can't get reimbursed for the gaurantee that DTS the God of Herps has on the KS add I bought from.
Thank you for the comments and time and I do see that I jumped the gun because DTS hung the phone up on us and blocked my emails to leave me to believe that I was going to get screwwwwed! which it looks like the final outcome! Peace and Love to all. Andy

Please, don't cop an attitude with us. I specifically asked for this a few days ago and we heard nothing from you, however Dan sent one that has a different amount.

If you are going to start a thread then you need to stick around to answer questions.

I do not think Maggie, nor myself EVER called you a scammer. If someone else did (besides Dan) please show me.

And please explain why it was days to get this info to us here?

Last I heard from you you were gping to try and have the amount of your Paypal dispute reduced. I thought that was a good thing.

I even brought it back to Dan's attention after you posted that in case he missed it and he said you were not entitiled to anything. That decision is not mine to make. I, personally, would have given you the $75 and hoped you were happy with that.

The only reason I got involved like I did was you were saying one thing and Dan was saying quite another. I've seen how Dan's threads degenerate to a point that nobody knows what the original complaint was about by the end so I tried to keep it on track---for YOU!

I never called you a scammer and I am sorry I couldn't work a resolution for you. Alas, I am not Dan.

Also, in my apology to Scott I meant to say I was going to stay out of the rest of this thread (the part involving him and Dan) until those pictures were posted.

I still wish I had sat on my hands.

I have been taking care of my daughter that has been really sick this past week. so the aggrivation of what Dan is putting my through and all has not brought out the best in me. This is my first time on this site and I do not know much about it, just that a few people (I don't feel I need to mention names) have suggested that I post this on here. I really do appreciate your time and thoughts on the matter, as well as all the others that have posted on this. Things just seemed to get out of hand and I just wanted to get the 75.00 back from DTS. and also let others be aware of what I have been through to try and get it back. I do admit DTS has some really great things. I own a pair of snakes from him that have been nothing but great!! And if that was the only transaction I have made with Dan than I would be praising his name. Thank you all and I gave DTS a deadline of today to pay me back the money or I will proceed with a case on paypal. So I will see how that goes.

Why not take $300 of the money you scammed your friend Scott with and deduct 75 dollars and take the 75 dollars and buy a different excuse for being a rotten and nasty customer who tried to scam for something he was not entitled to?

You gave me a deadline? In my book, you are a criminal who tried to extort 310 dollars for a snake you sold to your friend that was free and tried to get him to bully me for 300 dollars. In my book, you claimed 200 dollars for a snake that arrived alive and you fed against my advice.

At least now you know about the BOI and can come here and search for threads and make informed decisions from now on before purchasing animals.

I have met Dan at Tom Crutchfields home, but we did not speak to each other. I have read a lot of the posts about Dan, and his child-like replies, in which everyone is stupid, scammer, thief, moron, idiot, etc. etc., and he is never wrong in anything he does. He claims that this site has not cost him any business. That simply is not true! I have and NEVER will do business with anyone who acts like he does on this site. Maybe some of the posters here can not PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that Dan ripped them off, but I have formed my opinion based on the majority of posters and Dan's child-like response to them. I am a state law enforcement officer, and we see this attitude of Dan's in many of the criminals we put behind bars. In post #1271 of the thread "DAN SCOLARO BAD GUY" Dan states " but never any sale in thousands where I did not achieve customer satisfaction." How can he say that when there are currently 255 pages of people complaining about him and transactions they have had with him. That sounds like he missed his mark on achieving customer satisfaction by a long mark. I have spoken with numerous people who will not do business with him because of what they read here on the BOI (mad props to FaunaClassifieds). So he is wrong, this site does cost him a lot of business, but he just does not realize it. And if he was doing so well financially (as he claims) why does he owe so many people so much money (including Mr. Crutchfield)???? Close friends of mine that know him better than I do (including two other dealers that he does regular business with) claim that Dan owes them money, and collecting money from him is like pulling teeth. He tells them that his business is doing poorly and he does not have the money to pay, and that he is waiting for checks from people etc. Dan claims to be a former federal officer (or whatever), but the reality is he is retired from the Navy. So technically he is correct, but the way he puts it one may think he was an FBI agent or something. The point of all this rambling is that if he treats his customers as poorly as he treats people on this site, who would want to become a new customer of his? I am not about to take the risk of buying animals from him after seeing so many complaints (whether or not they can be proved beyond all doubt), and seeing how he responds like a little boy. He is quick to call everyone names and infer that they are little kids etc., but even my two sons (10 & 12) don't talk as childishly to each other as Dan does to people here. Bill. it seems you're a good friend of Tom Crutchfield to know the status of Dan's outstanding balance with him. Is there any way that you might be able convince Tom to post here and share his side of this? Note: Third party provided information is not allowed on the BOI.

And that is unchanged by my feelings about this particular thread, and maybe one or two other cases...it isn't even about the merits of a particular situation, it's about how Dan deals with people (his interactions here, and in the posted emails, are the only things I have to judge)
 
I'll chime in on this list. I was approached by a regular client of mine looking for 10 pairs of het amel western hogs to fill an overseas order. When I heard Dan was the shipping agent, I passed on the deal.
