Inquiry Dwayne Ronney ?

Attempted to purchase 2 greek tortoises from a person named Dwayne Ronney. Not certain that is his name as he used three different names during the negotiations, Dwayne Ronney, D.Karl and Nforne Neba.
Insisted on money order from Walmart. Found out from Walmart that there is no recourse once the money order is cashed, they can only track it and tell you when and where it has been cashed. Dwayne(?) refused to use paypal as it was not a big enough order? I offered to pay the fees.
The conversations with this person indicated that, they were either a very young person, or someone that does not speak English fluently. Occasional grammatical errors are one thing, but the sentence structure of his/her communications indicated another issue. One of the last communications when I cancelled the order was a rant about the miscommunicated order, I told them to reread their posts to understand the hesitancy in my continuing the order. The next post was more relaxed, and wanted to see what guarantees I needed to continue.
I cancelled the order and have not returned the emails due to the red flags. The three different names used, the insistence on money order payment, the address (which was an apartment complex in Minneapolis, Mn). Cannot find the original post and feel there is something amiss with this advertisement.

Thank you for the heads-up! I agree with you %100, it seems really fishy! There is only one person I have ever sent a money order to, and that was to an older gentleman who is VERY well known in the hobby (and I STILL felt nervous about it, even with his stellar reputation). I certainly wouldn't do it if there were ANY question as to who the seller is.

Definite scam - the WalMart money order is the giveaway.

Please post any contact info you have, such as the email address or phone number used for contact. Also where was the ad posted? Can you get a screen shot? Usually scammers steal photos, someone may recognize the real owner of the torts.

Just got another threatening response from this supposed vendor. "I will be seeing you" pretty obvious. Except that I know it is a fake address, I'm not too worried about it. His address is 3254 Bloomington Ave Minneapolis, Mn 55407 His phone # is 405-548-5881 the name he requests on the money orders is Nforne Neba...what ever that means.
He is not happy that I called his bluff on it and the emails are getting more threatening. I have saved all of them. Thanks for the support people, this guy is a problem.

I'm not sending him anything from here on out. His responses have become increasingly more threatening. This is a crazy world we live in. Oh his email is [email protected] am laying low on this one. I really don't need the hassle. Am considering taking action through the Minneapolis PD.

I think I found his ad here on Fauna Classifieds, but cannot find any reference to it since this whole thing unfolded. I cannot find any of the names he used or any of the other ID.

I then searched the number and numerous ads for free yorkie/English bulldog puppies and capuchin monkeys came up. Does not sound legit.

Gosh we seem to be having a rash of sketchy tort sales lately! I am so sick of these scammers and bullies.

Charles, thank you for posting this and helping others avoid getting scammed. If you are getting threatened, it would be a good idea to file a police report. All we can do is bring these things to light and then not make it easy for the scammers to bully people into silence.

In addition to the "FREE!!!" English Bulldog pups in Charlotte, English Bulldog pair in Missouri, toy Yorkie pups in Phoenix, there is also a YouTube reply to a guy who posted his Amazon Grey vid a few years back. The reply was by a YouTube member, "Sally Morgans" selling birds too, naturally, lol, using the same phone number.

Here's an ad for various torts for sale by "Garret" in Orlando. Same phone.

Obviously no further proof is needed, but here is another ad. Granted, it's old, from 2013, but indicative of someone who has been at it for a while. Note the email address and the UK location.

Here's an ad I posted on CL after getting involved with few scammers.

For those that don't know, right-click on any ad image and click *Search Google for images* then scroll down the page. If the picture appears in another ad with a different location or you see multiple ads all using the same picture, the ad is most likely a scam.
