In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

To Thomas Davis

Thomas,

1st of all, Don't pretend you are an "impartial observer" concerning me. Please, lay your cards on the table.

I don't like you and you don't like me. No bravo sierra Thomas, OK?

Ask the guy you forwarded to me how I treated him. If you ask me, I was FAR TOO KIND. Another time waster.

Here is his original email (name left out by me on purpose):

Here is my response to him (I will leave out his name to protect the guilty):

Hi Lloyd,

I have one Eastern King left - a nice female from York County, VA. I paid $75.00 for her last year.

You can have her for for $100.00 shipped.

Let me know.

Peter

Next came his obligatory request for info and pic's. I have received MANY emails from this guy before... My response is at the top of this. Of course, I never heard from him again. LOL. Thomas - please don't send anyone else to me, ok? Thaaaanks!

Llyod, She is wild caught. about 30", black and yellow with thin yellow bands.

She eats live or frozen thawed.

No pics and I have no time to take pic's.

Peter

Anyone reading this thread who has dealt with me knows that I don't play games. I bend over backwards for people who do not waste my time. People who try and play games with me are treated as such.

It is as simple as that.

I will say, been there and done that many times.

However, word of mouth is the best advertising there is, wether good or bad. If we as sellers act rude towards buyers/TIME-WASTERS it will still hurt us in the long run. JMHO. :shrug01:

Well Peter...you may need to take a note on a few things:

1. People are the reason you will ever sell a snake.
2. People skills are a necessity to be a successful business. It is really that simple of a concept to understand.
3. How do people find the answers in life? They ask questions.

Peter, let me ask you this ( I hope I am not wasting your time....) Is the definition of someone that DOES NOT waste your time someone that just buys a snake from you without the " hassle " of any questions? If so, you may be in the wrong business my friend.

As far as pics are concerned, it is one thing if you do have pics, perhaps one good one, of a particular snake either on your site or in an ad, and someone emails you wanting more with different angles, light shades, etc.. That I can understand being somewhat tiresome. BUT...if you didn't have any available pics in an ad or on your website on a particular snake that a potential customer was asking for, from what you have said in your last post, they pretty much are wasting your time and " playing games?" Please tell me you are not that ignorant? This person you referred to as " Time Waster " seemed to send a nice email to you inquiring about a snake, and there was nothing apparently " time wasting " that I could see in his email. Is there more to the story than what we here can perceive?

I'm new here, but I've been reading a lot...

I don't see what's "time-wasting" about wanting to know age, origin, weight, diet, etc on a snake being considered for purchase. Those seem like common sense things to ask sellers. It's the buyer's responsibility to obtain that information if the seller does not offer it, thereby avoiding misunderstandings that wind up on the BOI as the next bad deal. And purchasing sight-unseen? No pics at all? Maybe it's just me, but I always like to see what I'm buying beforehand and I'd wager I'm not the only one. I fail to see how asking for pictures of an animal you have not seen yet is rude or time-wasting.

The folks I've purchased from have been more than happy to answer me in detail, and some have gone far out of their way to provide advice and help unasked for. These are sellers who I now feel a connection of gratitude to, and who I would recommend and certainly buy from again.

I don't know seller or buyer here...just watching and learning at this point. These threads can be so helpful.

Wasting my time?

Discern ---

You write -
1. People are the reason you will ever sell a snake.
Really?

2. People skills are a necessity to be a successful business. It is really that simple of a concept to understand.
Really? I sold more than 200 baby snakes that my collection produced in 2006. Thanks for the tip. I sold about $4,000,000.00 in business at my regular job in 2006. Again, thanks for the tip.

3. How do people find the answers in life? They ask questions.
Ahhh --- good point. My point is that there (the time wasters) want me to act like a dancing clown in order to sell a snake. I refuse. They ask questions for which there are no answers...

By the way --- I don't care of I ever sell a snake again in my life. If nobody buys the babies I produce or the surplus I buy --- well then I will just give them away. I don't do this to make a living. I do this for fun.

Your self-righteous infuriation at my behavior simply amuses me.

There is a very easy way to deal with this if you don't like me - JUST LEAVE ME ALONE.

Well I can assure you that I'll never do business with you based on your arrogant replies to the OP and in this thread, and if anyone asks my opinion on you I'll be sure to point them to this thread.

Anyone who thinks it a game to belittle people who mildly inconvenienced you isn't worth my time or money. Especially when I cannot find anything worthy of such a response in his emails to you.

A simple "No thank you, I don't haggle" reply would have sufficed.

Peter.....

" Your self-righteous infuriation at my behavior simply amuses me. "

Ok,..now you are making mountains out of anthills..... :NoNo:

Also, there were no questions being asked by the person you refer to as Time Waster that couldn't be simply answered and do not ask of you to be a dancing clown.

What is really funny is this: You posted this " Time Waster's " email to help support your refusal to answer a curious consumer's questions, and all it has done is enabled yourself into digging a deeper hole of rudeness to stand in.

You say you do this for fun? Don't you think part of the fun is talking to others in this hobby and not being so quick to scream that someone is wasting your time if they ask questions about an animal they are WANTING TO BUY?! Rocket science it is not.

You are the one coming off as self righteous and arrogant, my friend. All I am doing, along with everyone else here, is letting you know.

I have always thought of you as a good guy and again, I will compliment you on your animals and very cool website. I really do wish that you would change your unprofessional behaviour though.

Relax Peter. Take a deep breath.

Huh?
No deal was struck....No money changed hands...No animal arrived half-dead (or not at all)....No one disappeared with someone else's money...No one misrepresented morph/color/weight/genes.....In short, no one has suffered any financial or animal loss.
If you find his personality lacking, don't 'poke the bear'...Leave him alone and take your business elsewhere.
Someone cited 'poor customer service'...
A customer is:a person who purchases goods or services from another; buyer; patron (Thank you, Mr. Webster).
Nobody bought anything.
Question: Has anyone who purchased animals from him had any complaints as to his knowledge, husbandry, shipping methods, advertisements, animal health?? :shrug01:
Or....do you just think he's a jerk?

All I can say is, As a person who may purchase animals in the future. The people who I choose to deal with would have to make me feel as the #1 person on thier list, and not as someone who is "wasting thier time".

I may be trying to buy an animal I've researched yet feel I have more questions to ask.
And to ask for a picture of the animal I may be buying is being "unreasonably and a person wasting your time"?

Yep all that I've seen in this thread has made me make the decision that if i'm in the market to buy animals/ or have friends who are in the market. I will certainly steer AS FAR AWAY AS possible from him!

hahahaha

ROFLMAO :lol01: :D hahahahahaha :detonate: ya know peter we have had dissagreements on forums but ftr i thought :slamit: you were a fair decent guy but you have shown exactly what kind of person you are for ALL to see :shrug01: , what irks me is that i put my own integrity at risk by simply reffering people to you  ahhwell live and learn  have fun giving your snakes away because its highly unlikely you are going to sell any with the attitude youve shown here ohh but then thats right you dont want or need to sell any you just do this for fun  ,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

Guys,

Please understand something: I DON'T CARE. Call me rude or whatever you want ---I DON'T CARE if people think I am rude.

I AM RUDE.
Yes, you are rude. And you do care. Otherwise you wouldn't make such a big issue over it and keep coming back to it ("The lady doth protest too much, methinks.").

Really now, if you don't want to be bothered by picture collectors, hagglers, "time wasters", etc, don't advertise for retail sales. It's like wearing a "Kick Me" sign and complaining when you get kicked. Oh wait, I forgot, you don't care.

Good question. I think he's an asswipe actually. This goes beyond "customer service" (I agree there was only a "potential customer" here) and speaks to a person who has major personality issues. Peter could simply have chosen to not respond, deleted the email, and blocked the address. It would have taken far less effort that spewing his vitriol on another human. Seems Jolles gets his jollies that way.

Jim_O

It was not nice to call me a rude name.

Please know that you are now blackballed as well.

You will never be allowed to purchase anything from me.

Thanks,
Peter

Here is an example of a typical emailer that would/ will get blackballed from East Coast Colubrids. Look at the title of the advertisement. It clearly says what is being offered for sale.

DUH!

Pot, kettle, black. Put them in a sentence. Not nice when someone is rude? Awww. Did wittle peter get his wittle knickers in a knot.

LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...You are a pompous ass to think that I ever would even consider you. There is nothing, I repeat nothing on this entire planet that you could possibly ever possess that would make it worth my while to consider you. You don't read people well, do you?

hey

no worries there peter...
i do find it funny as @#%* that you say you are not in this for the money ... yet ... you have 30+ads up with everything for sale, what no freebies?! and boids no less, guess there wasnt much money in getula(classic) and wasnt it just a couple of years ago you got your first snake?
hahahahahaha i thought you gave snakes away because you didnt do this for money yet if anyone inquires about a snake you have for sale they are wasting your time:rofl: to funny,,,,,,,,,,,thomas davis

Everyone gets the so called "time wasters" whenever they list an animal for sale.

I have gotten emails asking questions which were stated int he ad. I have also had many people ask for different pictures, weights, info, etc and then ask if I would go lower on the price.

Is it frustrating? Yes, but you need to keep your replies civil.

You are coming off as very arrogant. You may or may not mean to alienate future customers but that just might be what you are doing with some of your responses.

Just step back and take a breath before you send off your email reply to someone. You may not make the sale to the person that time but if you are civil to them, you may find them as a paying customer in the future or they may refer someone to you because you were helpful. If you degrade them, you will lose them as well as anyone they tell and word travels fast in this community.
