In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello TurtleOwner99:

The answer is YES. I feel Eastern Milks make great pets. The trick is to catch one in the springtime as they are coming out of hibernation. They usually will eat better that way. Also for several weeks during the winter, you may need to cool the snake down for hibernation. They usually become picky eaters during the winter time if you don't cool them.

I have several Eastern Milksnakes in my collection from MAINE. One thing I have learned is that they are much more eager to eat smaller prey. For instance, adult easterns will usually shy away from adult mice, but will scoop up a small bowl of fuzzies like crazy.

Good luck, if you have any more questions, let me know.

Eastern milks

I agree with Travis that eastern milks make good pets - I have two '04 cb hatchlings from Virginia. At first they were reluctant feeders & I had to resort to scenting the pinkies with the snakes' own sheds. My hatchlings are about five months old and are still very small; they can only take newborn pinkies. I found that once they became accustomed to their new homes and I maintained the temp between 75-85 degrees F they fed more readily. One bit of advice which you may already know is that kings/milks will eat other snakes, including their own siblings, so if you end up with more than one please keep them in separate aquariums.

Take care,
Dan

I've always thought eastern milks were awesome snakes but haven't been able to find many people that have cb easterns available. For those of you that responded to this post, do you breed them and have cb available or do you know of someone who does breed them?

thanks,

Dave

Most people I know will usually find gravid females during the right time of year and hatch out the eggs. I will be attempting to breed easterns for the first time this spring. People out on the West Coast go nuts over Eastern Milks --- they are truely great snakes.

I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. The only reason I got into Eastern Milks is that my basement growing up (Coastal Maine) was HEAVILY inhabited by Eastern Milks as a hiberniculum.

Thanks,
Travis
