In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hello Everybody. We are in desperate need of Cricket keeping advice. We don't have a car, so our trips to the Pet Store are limited. The first set of Crickets we bought came in a water container. They looked older so they died off pretty quickly. The past couple of times they have been younger, and we have been keeping them in their bags. We just transfered all the live ones to a big ziploc bag. My Fiancee has been cleaning out their bags, and we have been sticking potatoe, and apple pieces in there for them to eat. Since we have had our Babys we have been recieving extra tanks. We were thinking of putting the Crickets in an extra ten gallon we have, thinking that the baggies don't offer enough room, and then they also will have more space to poop. They poop A LOT! We have never had Crickets, and don't exactly know how to care for them, and keep as many as possible alive! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!! Thank You! :)

I think transferring them to the 10 gallon sounds like a good idea. Just be sure to give them an egg carton to hide in and fresh fruits/vegetables and they should live a good deal of time.

The ten gallon tank should work out fine with a screen lid
they need plenty of ventilation and don't forget to feed them a good gut load too
:D
Happy cricket keeping and welcome to the wonderful world of keeping multiple containers of insects in your house year round-LOL

Ok......

Next Question. Putting them in the ten gallon is fine, but how in the blue world are we supposed to get them out?????? When they are in baggies we used the paper towel tube trick. How are we supposed to get them out of the tank? They are fast, and we don't want to injure Gex's food of course, so what would be the best method?

If you leave a couple of paper towel tubes in the tank, they will still hang out in there.

I keep all of mine in a big Rubbermaid tub, with the center of the top cut out and window screen attached over the hole for ventilation. It's a lot lighter and easier to clean than an aquarium, IMO.

I keep mine in a rubbermaid container with a screen top also
Here's what works for me besides using paper towel tubes-
For 1000 plus crickets I usually use 2 of the egg crates that come with my crickets and I bend them in the middle to make a small tent
I them use a large dog biscuit bag (any heavy gauge plastic bag will work) and pick up the entire egg crate squeezing it together and slide it into the plastic bag and shake the crickets into the bag
I then add my calcium and i pour the crickets out into the Leos tanks
I am usually feeding at least 200 to 400 per feeding so this works best for me
I hope that this has you helped some
:D

I just either scoop them up with my hand or I pick up the egg carton and shake them into my small calcium bowl.

I get my other half to pick them out (and de-leg them) with his fingers... :)
