It's simple.

You can make fun of a guys wife and kids, you can call them names and make mean rhymes about them, talk about how ugly they are and question their very parentage, but you don't EVER threaten to kill them.

jody the crazy ape does not know boundaries. This means he may well be as dangerous as he has threatened MANY times to be. This is not good for anyone, not him, not us, not ed. He makes ALL of us look bad.

jody crossed a line I find just a tad more than uncouth. He has made relatively unsincere appologies and said that he was raised to do so. He's obviously a nut, or a guy who needs to get his crap together or get some SERIOUS help.

If you can't scare the crap out of someone without threatening his family you're not much of a man. In fact, you're a bit of a pissant, a bully who blunders and bullies his way to get what he wants.

It's late where ed lives and he may be asleep now. I DO want to see an answer to my question though.

I sent what I had to you in an email.

I wish I had more, but we made the deal on the mojave over the phone while I was sitting in the waiting room at the orthopedic doctor's office. I left there, went to physical therapy, and then shipped the snakes. Ed was working that day and I was taking care of the problems with my elbows. Neither one of us had access to email.

From now on, I will take the advice of Rick Carrick and document all phone calls with an email to verify what was discussed on the phone. I will never do a deal until I have documentation of all details agreed upon by both parties.

According to Mr. Carrick in post #18, Mr. Braaten was not long involved in the hobby of keeping reptiles.

Ed is very new in this hobby 2-07, not a good way to start off.

And according to what he has stated in this thread ss well as what he indicated in his email reply to me he is no longer inclined to attempt to be on the business end of this hobby.

…….I am over the snake thing. I wanted a little hobby to teach the my kids responsibility and some science. They have learned alot about genes and reproduction, but its not worth it to me for all the harassment and the threats on my familys life……….

OK, with that being said...I am done with snakes. I will either keep them and just hold back everything or be done with them. Its not worth the threats. I have 3 racks full of snakes, mostly normal females, but the males are a fire, a black pastel, a lemon pastel, cinny, and a spider.

I really hate to even reply cuz i am scared that a nut will show up at my house and pull a columbine. ITS NOT WORTH IT TO ME. Its only money i have invested, i didnt buy into this for the weirdos. There is easier ways to make money.

Sad really, though I do not feel there is any room for dishonesty in this industry I also do not feel there is any room for wacko fly off the handle bullies who think they can go about crushing anyone who disagrees with them.

There is a thread somewhere on this site concerning Mr. James Wilson who is/was one very knowledgeable breeder and was driven from amidst our ranks by loud mouth bully types threatening him in a similar manner. Mr. Wilson’s only crime, if I recall correctly, was to attempt to explain genetics to the guy when the guy was suggesting the snake he was selling was a genetic impossibility.

Alas, I digress off topic to a degree.

I think Mr. Barnes is left with only one alternative at this point and that is to take his chances in a Kansas Court of Law if he dares.
With the phone threats, lack of any real evidence, a restraining order against him and the apparent stalking I somehow doubt he stands a chance in front of a Judge but anything is possible.

Ed simply needs to pay up. stop hiding behind this fear nonsense. you only here of his fear when it is time to pay. where was all the fear for the months that this went on before the calls or visit ? as for sending the pastels after recieving the snake from jody that did not cost anything to do. he had those snakes. as with most deadbeats the problem always lies in the cash. all I can say is it is a good thing Ed does not owe me. no distance is too great to teach a dirtbag a lesson. How about you post that pic ed. if you need a payment plan ask for one. step up panty waste. why would you agree to a reverse trade and then when contacted by an outside entity refuse ? Jody, take a deep breath and try to calm down some. This will end up consuming your whole year if not more. Apply the lesson learned here and if ever in kansas my first stop would not be a court house. good luck to you. In my opinion Ed thought he saw an easy buck but being new he never realized how many times this has been seen already. I am glad you are out Ed, hopefully you stay that way. As there is no room for a deadbeat in this business.

On September 18, 2007, I drove 500 miles (9 hours) and showed up on his doorstep the afternoon of September 19, 2007 after getting some sleep at a local motel. Ed was so scared that he could not talk without stuttering.

Try weeks not months.

If you read through the rest of the thread it is indicated that prior to the Sept 19 visit Mr. Barnes made his threatening phone calls which shows that the justified fear began in 2 weeks or less.

I agree that if there is a debt to be paid it should be paid but let's keep the facts straight in our examination.

Yeah John I agree, taking this to small claims court might not be the best idea but then again what does threatening the guys life have to do with him not paying what is owed. I would think a judge would frown on it but only after he told Ed that it had nothing to do with the case. Jody doesn't seem to have much that shows money is owed, well unless he has some witnesses that can back up his story. And it would also help Jody if he kept his cool in court and sticks only to the facts...Randy
