In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

so in may of 2008 i had seen a ad in the kingsnake classifieds for two red harly crestd geckos for sale. i had emailed Ed to see if they were available. A few emails and phone calls later i had found out what i thought was enough information to trust this guyand had sey up a payment plan. when i recieved my package in the mail i was deeply dissappointed that the female was not the same as he advertised and that she had protruding hip bones. Both geckos were lacking calcium sacs. i had emailed Ed clark numerous time and had called him but had no reply. i had my boyfriend call him and when Ed Clark relized who it was he told me that he would send me a red juvie crested gecko. ever since that phone call i haven't been able to reach him. my question is where are you?? and i want a refund!

I'm not a big Ed Clark fan myself, but they look to be the same animals to me. They also look to be pretty healthy animals as well.

Also, your picture were taken on 7/8/2008. They would mean they spent at a month or so in your care at the time of those photos. Do you have photos of them the way they looked when you received them in May? How is anyone to know that they could have lost the weight you claim they have while in your care for the last month or so?

I'm the first guy that would love to see Eddie get his ass handed to him, but with the info so far provided..it looks like the only thing he is guilty of is offering you another gecko and his failure to communicate when you can expect it.

This comes as no surprise. Ed has a history of bad deals, misrepresenting animals and not following through on his promises.

The appearance of crested geckos is much more intense when they are 'fired up." Looks to me like they are fired up in Ed's photo and normal in the others.

Fired up as in the late evening hours? I'm no crested expert so that why I ask.

Anna's photos, according to the exif data, were taken during the daytime/afternoon.

Does that likely explain the difference we are seeing between the photos as far as coloration and/or defining patterns/markings?

The male is clearly the same animal as the one in Ed's pic. As for the girlie... i need to see better photos that are more similar to the one Ed posted.

looks like the same female to me just a brighter color because is upset or happy......the markings in both pictures are the same

some of the best crested can look like crap unless you get at that right time. reds are the worst. some reds will look grey most of the time then show a brick red at that right time.
as for the calcium, is she a retired breeder or virgin? That is something that should have made clear/asked before payment.
Also ask why a gecko breeder is selling a ready to breed female.
Also have told him you brought this issue here? Let here his side.

To me the side markings on the first Ed photo matches the side markings on the first Gecko Received photo.

Look at the harley markings on the side of the female and it will be apparent they are not the same animal.

I had also inquired about this pair, and asked to see more pictures.
Ed Clark sent me a picture of an obviously different female, told me he has a lot of photos and there must have been a mix up. Ed said he'd take more photos but i never heard from him.

True. I have a younger female that looks pale orange and gray most of the time. When she sees a male crested, she glows like she is on fire.

Ed's photo is showing the right side, while yours show the left- the only parts visible in both are on the extreme dorsal surface, where the patterns appear identical.

Color intensity can vary greatly based on physical and physiological conditions- the time of day, the temperature, the relaxed or excited state of the animal, the humidity, the light intensity (which can also impact the tones shown in photographs), stress, breeding readiness, recent diet...

The color variability can change how much the pattern contrasts but not the intense patches of light and dark- which are indentical in the two sets of photos.

I also have found Ed to be shady in the past but I don't see anything here warranting the bad guy report. Hell, I don't even think he should have said anything about sending another animal since I don't see any justification for him oweing one.

Strike that, I was looking at the male when checking the sides.

we have dealt with ed and have seen first hand how he deals with his clients. he is a stand up guy that sells quality animals. i cant see any reason for him to want to rip you off, this is what he does and his reputation helps him sell animals.

The females have very similar dorsal markings, but in my experience creamy side markings like the ones shown on the right side of Ed Clark's female photo do not just disappear when the gecko is not fired up. Cream and white tend to stay pretty much just as bold when the gecko shows its day colors.

As outlined in green in these pics, there is a large "notch" in the dorsal cream on the posterior end of the gecko she received that is not there in the pic Ed showed.

The pink area shows a thicker cream on Ed's photo. Again, I have not seen cream disappear or lessen like that on my own geckos. I could be wrong! Maybe it does happen. I just haven't seen it.

The OP saw the ad in May, and set up a payment plan. I believe she got the geckos late june or early july.
