In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Ed Clark- Sketchy Ad

I received a group of adult ball python breeders from Ed that are perfect in every way, including an adult male piebald. The male piebald is either mating or trying to mate with the females, and he even feeds well when I can separate him.

Dont worry Bruce, its normal. I know you might be very unfamilair with the whole male/female sex thing, but trust me....its normal even for ball pythons.

Or were you not complaining about this? My bad maybe.

Ed sold me these.

That's what he is best at.

Yep, he has time to go into other threads, but can't deny or confirm simple questions here. :shrug01: That in itself should speak volumes to potential customers.

In my Expereince

I really resisted posting a reply, but I figured I would go ahead and give my expereince and opinion...

If you cruise almost any classified adds that people are selling Ball Pythons, You will see the same discriptions, from people that are truely trying to sell you a morph that hasn't been proven yet...to MANY adds that try and give a discription of the type of Ball they are selling, What Ed Clark did is no different than 90% of the people selling Ball Pythons do...Its called Marketing...If anyone has ever sold an animal or is familar with trying to sell an animal, you want people to notice what you have, Why would anyone just place an add for "Plain Jane Ball Pythons" You want yours to stand out, EVERYONE DOES IT...from Boas, to Crested Geckos, to YOU NAME IT!!!!

If people took his add the wrong way then I feel they where looking for something that wasn't there, as it was mentioned nowhere in the add did he say anything about possible morph, I took the add for what it was, he was selling nice looking Ball Pythons that fit a certain "Look" Thats it...

I am all for the Fauna BOI, infact I have a link on my website to it, And I have used this as a resource many times, checking out bad deals gone wrong, or Good Guy Posts....But all to often petty he said she said crap gets posted...I feel the BOI should be about dealings and transactions...not I don't like this guy...If you bought something from Ed Clark...and the deal went bad...then post it on BOI...

I personally have purchased a Ball Python from Ed Clark for my wife (who is really into Ball Pythons) I purchased an 06 Male Cinnamon, Ed was very professional, After receiving the Ball Python it was very honestly represented, and My dealing with Ed Clark has been a very positive one. I would like to see the BOI used for more than little grip fests...if you have a problem with him or his adds, do what I do with the ones I don't like....Skip over them...I havn't read all this thread....yet...but what I have read so far, doesn't seem to be of any good use for the BOI...just taking up space...Like I said...if you bought something from Ed Clark...and weren't happy with the transaction..then make a BOI...but this petty "I think he is trying to jip someone crap" is annoying...

Also...There has been many times when I have sold reptiles on the internet where its been late, or way early in the morning before work and I havn't had enough coffee, where I post an add, only to later go back and reread it and need to change it...it happens all the time, even times where the add has been up for days....and after days of being up, you go to check it, and notice it needs to be changed...not saying this was the case....but it happens....

Anyway...Sorry for the long rant...its early and I havn't had much coffee this morning...SO I minght come back and need to change this post....lol

Did you see the original ad or the current one? He used the term "minor morph". What he meant by that is open to interpretation perhaps, but to me it was a bit beyond "marketing".

Also, because 90% of the others do it and get away with it does not make it right. There is a standard. That no one has started a thread on the others is a legitimate question for another time and place.

For the most part I would agree with Jim. As with anything there are two sides to a coin. One could say the ad should be as precise and accurate as possible and others would say it is marketing stragegy and if the new buyer doesn't get or doesn't read between the lines it is them that are at fault. I certain think the ad should portray exactly what the snake is. There are stradegies that do not border so close to that imaginary line of ethics and morals. I prefer the more honest route, not even close to that imaginary line.

With regards to Ed. Yes I did read he sent a snake with mites, I also read he corrected it. I see he is trying. So as long as I see that I will continue to watch to see what path he takes. His good guy thread is full of good deals.
I am not going on a crusade against him as long as I see him trying.
As far as selling his snakes and at what cost, that is entirely up to him, and up to the buyer on whether they want to pay that price or not.

I don't follow the Ball Python Morphs. In fact, I know very little about them. I can name a couple, but couldn't tell you the nature of the genetics involved. I can say, before the ad was edited, it gave me the impression they were genetic mutations. And I imagine some poor fella or gal fresh to the reptile hobby very easily could have been duped by this.

Giving something (or even suggesting) a name that is known as a genetic mutation, when it has not been proved, is little better than scamming. It's misleading to say the least, and can't be likened to "advertising tricks" as was mentioned earlier. I just have a hard time seeing that myself, and question people who seem to think it's OK. It's even worse than "Hypo siblings" or "Pastel siblings" as if this ads some extra special quality to the animals.

They are nice looking animals, and he could have used that alone to sell them, but he chose to name names, and put a high price on them, as if they were something special. Until they are proved to have inheritable traits, they are simply normals, and nothing more. When he was initially questioned about it, he defended his ad. It was after that he chose to edit the wording. He saw nothing wrong with it at all, and wasn't changing anything till he got called on it.

And that is what makes me think he's still full of crap. I just don't buy into it. He's been around long enough to know better if nothing else.

If I could give you 100 karma points for that, I would.

Great post.
