In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Info Eddie Markward

Well the Tstat just compunded the problem. What is the problem? Well there were mites and neglected animals. Who knows what else may have been in there. I won't speculate. I just won't touch anything from that part of the country with a ten foot pole. At least not for a while. And the people who get animals from him. Well I wont consider them either. At least not for a while.

This ends my contact with this predicament at this point in time.

Bingo. The animals were infested, neglected, dehydrated, and if it is indeed a factor, finally overheated. 'Nuff said. I wonder if they were even quarantined properly.

I don't have anything to add to the discussion, but does Eddie still have any snakes in his care? I'm very worried there could be snakes on the verge of dying still there. It sounds like the recovered snakes were extremely dehydrated and starving. If the others haven't been rescued, this sounds like an animal neglect case. I hope those snakes are now receiving care....Eddie could you address this? Sorry if this was already said and I missed it.

Eddie still has his own animals. There hasn't been any evidence presented as to what condition they are in.

This is true. There is no evidence.
However, earlier in this thread, Charlene stated the following (quote below):

I didn't go through all his tubs. From what I saw of his animals which were only the ones that were at the front of the tubs, they looked to be in similar condition to mine.

And I have already stated once that I find it incredulous that 118 animals could die in just ONE night due to this tstat malfunction....
Have had it happen myself overnight, caught it early am and lost not one single animal
Sorry but I just do not believe it could have been just one nights occurence
However NONE of that is going to help anybody right now so maybe we need to stop labouring the subject.....
Eddie has admitted he was in the wrong
This now needs to move along
I had a similar issue. We left at 8am did not return until 8pm 2 racks were affected by high temps. 1 rack had 8 tubs, 4/8 animals were dead when we got home. 2/8 died the following week. 1/8 died a few months later. 1/8 is still alive. All animals in the other rack that high temps. (Not as high as the other) are doing well. However, all living snakes affected by high temps will stay with us until they pass.

We switch from heat tape to heating the entire room. We check the room at 7 am, 5 PM and may times throughout the night for heat failures.

Wow that was a ramble. Anyways my point is in 12 hours our temps went from 85° - 140°.

At the time of pick up and transportation of our collection to Eddie's, our collection was 100% mite free. We did have an outbreak months before that we resolved. We had the extra NIX not only because of that but because we treat all new incoming animals to our collection regardless of where we get them from. I sent out a few packages a couple weeks before Eddie got our snakes in a trade and had no complaints of any issues with those shipments. One of those people even posted on facebook stating this as well. I can get screen shots if further proof is needed.

Everyone is doing good. They have all been eating for me. The mites are gone. The two that have abscesses are on antibiotics but both are still eating. One has an issue with her eye that I will be taking to the vet on Saturday. I think she has a secondary infection due to stress or RI. She doesn't have classic signs of RI but I don't know what else would explain her eye being fluid filled and cloudy despite her NOT being in shed.
Most have gained at least 50g in the last 30 days if not more. I have taken them off paper towels and everyone is on fresh aspen. Things are going good and should continue to get better.

That at least is very good news after all the heartache
Good luck!

I'm simply and utterly in shock that this has not been brought up ONCE in this entire thread....I see talks of a thermostat malfunction causing a heater to kill a bunch of snakes. This heater was used to heat an entire room (ambient heat) as opposed to heat tape (what most people use).

Does nobody see the MAJOR problem with this method of heating? How on earth can the snakes thermoregulate when the entire room is ONE temperature all the time? How on earth can so many people think this type of basic husbandry negligence is fine & dandy? I'm literally flabbergasted.

Also, Mr. Markward is a complete scumbag who shouldn't own a pet rock.

Many reputable breeders use this method. It's basically like living in Africa for the ball pythons. Some people consider it safer than having a lot of different heat sources that can individually fail. Of course, using this method without having a backup thermostat is pretty irresponsible. The snakes suffer no ill effects from having a room at 85 degrees vs a temperature range of 80-90 degrees though.

They may use it for their own selfish reasons (convenience) but that gives it zero merit. Africa does not stay ONE temperature at any point throughout a 24 hour cycle, nor does anywhere really.

This thread is not the place to discuss opinions regarding general keeping (room heating vs tub/cage heating). Please take it to the discussion forums.

You're just always looking for something to be upset about, aren't you? :shrug01:

After more than a year, has Eddie made any restitution?

$1000 of the $2000 has been paid to date. We have seen no other efforts for payment nor have we seen any replacement animals he produced/produces as agreed upon. I am unsure if he even has any animals at this point anymore. Last I spoke with him, he was talking about giving his snakes to a friend to breed for him. No longer have communication with him as he has stopped responding to our messages and has removed us as friends on his facebook.

Wish there were better things to report.
