In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am not a computer wiz so I don't know if this is difficult or not. I am also not sure this is the correct forum to post this in. Is there any way the threads can be changed to allow a writer to edit their own posts? Sometimes, actually often, I notice an error in a post I've written that looks ridiculous and it would be nice to be able to open it up and correct it. I've seen this in other forums and it usually says something like "Edited for spelling" after the posts has been changed.

Thanks
Kevin

I believe you have to be a Contributor level member or above to edit posts. And the BOI is locked for editing. The only people who can make changes there are Super Mods.....

Thanks Ron, Makes sense. Can't seem to find the membership level area and how you can upgrade. I wouldn't upgrade just for that but I spend enough time on here so that I should contribute more.

Go to your User CP. Then on the left hand side you will see your Control Panel. Scroll down until you see "Paid Subscriptions" under the Miscellaneous heading. Click on "Paid Subscriptions" and you will see all of the options. Hope that helps.

No problem. Looks like Sammy beat me to the paid subscription thing..... Thanks Sammy!

Thanks Sammy, I knew I had seen it somewhere but when you're looking for it it's not the easiest thing to find.

Or, you can click on the "fauna coins" below anybody's screenname, and it will bring you there
(its nice to have options, lol)

I just noticed today that I no longer have the ability to edit my posts.
Has something changed?

Also the Paid Subscription Table is not working properly. It's displaying the html code.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Editing posts was pulled because of a few situations that have happened here on Fauna. Only moderators (in their own forums) have the ability to post right now.

Was there a thread somewhere that addressed this change? I must have missed it.

Thanks

Thanks

I believe I mentioned it in that "banned" thread in this forum. Editing and deleting should still be enabled in the classified forums, however. I will be re-enabling these functions shortly.

Also the other day the server this site resides on had some periodic episodes of the server loading reaching over 110.00. Typical loads even at peak traffic times rarely goes over 2.00. HTML code being allowed with the forum posts has always been known as a security weakness in vBulletin, but I allowed it anyway, hoping for the best from the people coming to this site. On a hunch, when seeing this load stats, I went and disabled HTML everywhere on this site as well as all my other ones just to see what would happen. It may only be a coincidence, but thus far since doing that I have not seen that excessive loading problem. Which pretty much points to someone loading some malicious code in a post and then triggering it whenever that post was read. I don't have any proof of this as I could not locate any post that actually had code of this nature in it and no one at Jelsoft could point me to a way to find such a thing. But they strongly recommended that I disable the HTML interpreter within posts and keep it that way.

Which, of course, killed that table of member benefits, since that was an HTML table. That is something else I need to figure out a work around for.....

Sorry about this, but I saw the need to do both of these steps when I did them.

Rich is the edit function coming back? I am a lousy proof reader. :)
