In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Considering adding some frogs into my collection.
Anyone care to give me the 101 on hearty, nice looking frogs for beginners?

Pics would be a plus too :)

Ed knows a lot about frogs, he gave me the name of some good frog boards so maybe he will come here and post them.
I was given an injured rescue pacman by a Petco store and sadly, he did not make it, but the pacman frogs are pretty easy to care for and they are great looking frogs.

I would have to say the Pacman frog also. That was my first frog and it did great.

Hee hee yep I want cute on top of easy to care for. :yesnod:

Thanks for the replies and link. I still have to do my research on these guys and how long they live ect... but I just think they would be good to care for and would make a great addition to my collection.

Pacman frogs, they are hearty and easy to care for also. I think they are awesome looking.

I still haven't purchased one yet but some to seem really great and the pacman is a big frog lol.
The colors are good on many of them, I just haven't gathered all the info on keeping them that I would like before buying.
It seems they are a bit messy but hey I always played in the dirt when I was a kid :)

Then those would be perfect for you. The messiest frogs I owned were bullfrogs. The pacman's were not bad if kept in moss rather than dirt. We had Redeye frogs before, really cool to watch, but a little more difficult for us to keep here in the desert.

I have never heard of ground coco fiber but have heard of moss, that seems like a good ticket. Not as messy, keeps moisture in and frog stays happy.

I will probably try a pacman first but I really like those dart frogs but have stayed away from them because I heard you can not really hold them. In an ad here they said that you can hold them in captivity.
Can someone elaborate on that?

the food they eat is what causes them to be toxic in the wild.

Since they dont have that specific food source available in captivity, they arent toxic/poisonous when captive bred. ( Wild caught animals can still be for a time, though)

A pacman frog is a better choice as they will eat crickets and night crawlers their whole life.

With dart frogs or any small frogs, be prepared to breed your own fruit flies to feed them! :ack2:
