In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just found that my Tstat was set to 75. I dont know if power was lost during the night, or what, but i wasnt here during the night to check.

Im on day 52. And im worried that this may have killed them. The lowest the tstat is telling me it got in the incubator was 73. I just set it back to normal.... Bah. I hope they will be OK, but knowing my luck, im screwed.

Ill keep looking up to see if anyone else has had this happen before.
:(

I've never had a Herpstat lose set temps when the power was cut (I unplug my incubator, leave it off til the following season, and it's still ready to go when I plug it back in)...any chance it could have been inadvertantly changed?

The later in development they are the more they can handle temperature fluctuations. When was the last time you KNOW the temps were fine? Also, did you get any temp readings of the actual substrate/medium?

I would be more worried about cooking the hatchlings then temps getting a little too cool. You will probably just have an extra couple of days to incubation.

Yesterday in the evening before i left for the night, im 99% sure. Ive been incubating them at 88.9 ( went up a degree or two somewhere in the beginning because i had never done this before, so i felt better just doing a universal temp for them that most people seem to use.* or around there*)

I candled the eggs really quickly a bit ago and everyone is moving, that i can see. I lightly rub the eggs with my finger and they react to it. so im taking that as a good sign.

Im using The Herpstats probe on the outside of the eggbox, and a digital thermometer inside the eggbox, just so i can see the difference in the two. Theyre usually not too far off from eachother, a degree or so at the very most. * the eggbox has been picking up more heat it seems too, as its gotten warmer ( tenths of a degree) the closer to hatch date they get* The digital was reading 75 when i checked it just a bit ago, and ive since reset the herpstat to its original setting so things are picking back up.

Harald. Is it possible that a power Fluctuation on the outlet that its plugged into could affect the herpstats settings? The power didnt go out last night, that anyone was aware of, and where i was at, is on the same feed of power as my house here, so i would have known if the power went out during the night. ( theres a computer on a UPS that makes loud noises when the power even flickers) So my only guess is maybe the outlet the Tstat is on? *shrug*

Thanks!

:) Makes me feel better!

ive been finding small mentions of it on the web, and people seem to not have much issue with it. So i am feeling a bit better.... man, what a crappy feeling!

I know people that cut their eggs on day 52...... so I would not be too worried since the outage was relatively brief. You can take a big sigh of relief. :)

Thanks a bunch Sammy!

John's pulling your leg about cutting at 30 days.....I think.......Maybe not, since he breeds 100 gram males with success.....LOL.

They should be fine.

I DID IT. Day 53. Alicia FAILED at controlling the urge.

I GAVE IN! I went against all my best intentions ALL OF THEM!!! and just COULDNT wait any longer. Ive finally seen my first baby ball pythons inside their eggs! and they all look great! Ive been reading about the process the entire incubation period, i felt i could do it, and do it safely... i was nervous, i didnt want to mess up or something, but the excitement overcame it. Seriously... you guys evil little devils on my shoulder, and there were a whole mess of you! All chanting That same, very thing.

Cut! Cut! Cut!

Heres some more of my noobness shining through, I cant tell if i have all normals, or maybe one pastel. LOL

I dont even care!

Right, i should respond to your post too.

I dunno... John is scary like that, he may very well! The breeding males thing i have read though!
LOL although, i could understand if he was pulling my leg... its not that hard, I cant read into joking stuff online always... bit slow there. ;D

Congrats!

And No leg pulling going on! I miscounted days with my very first clutch and cut them on day 30. Everything went well so I just started cutting all of them. It awesome to watch them actually grow in the egg!

Thanks a bunch! :D
Thats pretty neat actually, and thanks for sharing it. Did you ever end up getting pictures of the process? * that would have been pretty cool to watch!*

Just a quick note. The Herpstats save all their settings in EEProm as soon as you exit the settings menu. So power outages would not affect the settings. All herpstats have a way to reset the default settings by holding the plus button down while applying power however even this reset procedure will set the temp to 85 degrees.

Technically there is no scenario where the temp could changed without user intervention except if for some reason the EEprom failed inside the microcontroller. Honestly in my experience I have never had a EEprom fail in my experiments or with the Herpstats. I can't explain what may have happened but if you do see anything recreatable pointing to the thermostat definately give me a shout at [email protected]. You can be assured we stand behind our product.
