    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i am expecting a clutch of eggs (my first ever). What is the best thing to do? how should i set up my reptibator? any helpful tips greatly appreciated.
thanks ben

I always set up my bator at least a week or 2 before eggs. Then I have time to get everything dialed in and correct. Good luck

The best thing to do would be build a reliable incubator, those things will give you heart ache.
Incubation should be thought about and working well before eggs ever come, waiting to the last minute will also cause heart ache.
Have you tested the reptibator?
Tested it with multiple thermometers so you know the temps are correct over a period of a week straight at least?
I've never used one but have heard of nothing but problems with any of the small incubators.

I've tested it for almost 2 weeks when I got it and it help pretty steady. Of coarse this was a couple months ago. I'll test it again. Any other help is always appreciated. Thanks

How would I build a reliable incubator?

mini fridge equiped with heat tape and a CPU fan to circulate the heat. many people also like to have a few water bottles filled with water to keep in the door and and sometimes bottom drawers. This helps to keep the temps from fluctuating too much when you open the door. If you do a search for DIY incubator you will find lots of them.

best thing to do is when you have eggs and have them settled in...... dont mess with them.. I think this is the number one common mistake is that people get too worried about them. Good Luck with your first clutch. i hope it goes great!!!

I used a reptibator for my first few clutches , they get a bad rap , but with trial and error you should be fine , for example to keep my egg box at 89 , I had to set the reptibators tstat to 92. Everyone has huge expectations from simple incubators , it does its job just like it was intended , but of course test test and retest to verify egg box temps. This season I built my own fridge incubator and expect it to work flawlessly.also as stated above , make sure it works fine before the eggs come and not the day they are laid. Congrats on the upcoming clutch and welcome to the soon to be slowest 55-60 days of your life lol

agree on that to the longest 60 days ever!!!! I also agree with the home made incubator. I had a store bought one "wont mention names here" but put it this way it sent my first clutch down a very very very rocky road. Here is my incubator I made in the corner. I got a gas station fridge with self shuting doors thats a huge plus! I also just went to the restaurant supply store and got the clear poly bins with lids like they use at Subway to hold the veggies. You can get them all sizes. They are clear and hold humidity well. But again once its all set dont touch it. LOL thats the hardest lesson I learned.
