In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Well chakita has laid another egg. i pulled it out of the sand and put it on a wet towel and heatig it. I think she is going to lay another she just cant find the right place. Ok so what do i do now?

Towel? Here is what you should be doing...

Without going into "The Great Substrate Debate", I would personally pull her off the sand and put her on paper towels. Then add a humid-hide with Peat Moss as a substrate. Wet it down (not dripping wet, just damp) and she will lay in there.. Then put the eggs on perlite, in an incubator, and there you go.

no offence or anything.......... but thats easy for you to say and do. all i have at my disposal is tupperware ant napkens and dish towels. I have no money what so ever. I am moving to ft sill ok. Its my husband that will be buying this stuff once we are settled in a place of our own. is what i have done so far ok till i can get what is needed?

No offence but you should have waited on breeding your female till you had everything you need to care for and incubate the eggs, and research was complete.

Well then the most humane thing to do would be to freeze the eggs to make sure that they do not hatch with deformities and have a low quality of life. Eggs need moisture. Eggs need proper heating. Eggs need to be left alone. No offence, but you asked for advice...

For the next clutch, that may come in as little as 10 days....

You need an incubator, a hovobator w/o the turbo fan will do. You can get perlite at a garden shop, or a place like home depot. Use 1:.80 (by weight) perlite to water in a air tight container with the eggs buried half way. Incubate at 80-89 degrees depending on the sex you want the eggs to be, higher temps males, lower temps female, in between a mix.

If that heat is not stable, you will not hatch out healthy babies or no babies at all. If the temp flux at all you are looking at some major deformities. A change of only a couple of degrees is not good.

Not to mention that you will have to contstantly monitor the towels dampness.... Dry eggs = bad eggs.

i do understand that. when i comfermed that my gecko had laid eggs i got out my gecko care book to see what needed to be done. I am doing the best i can with waht little i have to work with. I am constantly checking the towel to make sure the towel is damp.

Here's what I found in an egg I split open after my incubator went on the fritz last year. Maybe you'll understand our concern.

balloonz i do understand your concern. i have a friend that owns a deformed leo. I am going to see if i can take the eggs to snakes ( the localy owned herp shop ) and see if the owner will take them and hach them.

if you dont have the right materials to hatch eggs, i would just let them die. Its better not to risk them if they were to hatch out deformed, and that is not OK at all. You need to have an incubator of some sort, or dont try hatching the eggs at all.

Do you have extra enclosures for when the babies hatch if you decide to keep on going with this? do you have the proper heating and lighting for these babies if they were to hatch?

All things you need to think about before introducing a female to a male. Please take everyones advice and listen to what they have to say. they are experienced breeders who are truly concerned for the animals at hand! ^_^

Amen, sister-girl. We're not trying to be all-knowing, but we've been doing this for a while -- we know what works and what doesn't.

Im gonna pretend im not reading this, and strongly suggest you freeze the egg.Im not gonna give you the what you need to do speach because i agree with what other said. BUT THIS IS PART OF KEEPING LEOS. IF you cant gurantee a healthy incubation, then you should do the responsible thing and freeze the egg/s. And of course seperate your male/female so this does not happen til you are ready.

And for the record books dont tell everything, it takes years of experience.

well i guess i at least know that the 2 will breed. i didnt know if they would in the first place. thanx
