    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

email notifications

On 1-21-2007 at exactly 10:19 PM, I received a private message. As usual, I had a popup window. I never had a problem with the windows not coming up. By 11:15 or so, I was beginning to believe nobody loved me. Then I noticed at the top, I had received a message, but no window came. I received this message at exactly 11:00. Since then I am no longer receiving any popup notifications but I am receiving emails and emails notifying me that I have received a private message.

Between 10:19 PM and 11:00 PM on 1-21-2007 I broke something.
 
Dennis, it just quit like that on me too, and hasn't worked since. Still not working. Hasn't for a week and a half now. :shrug01:

I feel bad when I don't notice I have a PM.....I don't want anyone to feel like I don't love them when I don't answer them, lol.
 
It's most likely spam blockers at your email facility. I'm tired of fighting with them. If you are not getting notification emails and this function is important to you, then I am afraid you are going to have to change the method in which you get email. Earthlink generally requires the sender to verify themselves as the source of legitimate email. Sorry, I don't do that. That is up to you to do. As for Yahoo, it's been pretty hit or miss as to whether email gets through from here or not. Some don't have a problem, and others do.

I recently had a bout of phishing code being hacked into my server on several domains that likely caused some of the problem, but as far as I know this has been cleaned up and the holes plugged.

If YOU are not getting emails, I am afraid that YOU will need to contact your ISP or mail server admin and specifically request that emails from this domain be allowed through their spam blocker.

I can only do so much, and I have already done about everything I can think of to do.

Could it be settings in your browser? I think recent updates to a lot of browsers now block popups of any kind to try to combat popup and popunder style spam that many websites throw at us.

Same thing is happening to me. Has been for quite sometime. I have the pop up blocker turned off for Fauna.
 
Well, honestly, I never use it myself. I just glance over at the Private Message box to see if there are any new unread messages there. Matter of fact, I have NEVER used it on any of my sites. :shrug01:
