In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Embedded YouTube videos

A few days ago, one of our members passed on a tip to me about how to set up embedded video clips from YouTube in posts. (Thanks MicroZooKits!).

So I set this up, but figure I should show people how to actually use it.

When creating a new post, whether a reply or the beginning of a new thread, you will see a little graphic at the top of the text entry box that says "YouTube". When you click on that icon, it will display an opening and closing tag that will look similar to this -> {YOUTUBE}{/YOUTUBE}. I've replaced the square brackets "[" and "]" with "{" and "}" so those tags will display here.

Anyway, all you need to do now is to plug in the text from an interesting YouTube video between those two tags. For instance, if the YouTube URL for the video were something like "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leKMmyXgpVQ", you really only need the value of the video to watch, which is after the "v=". In this case, it would be "leKMmyXgpVQ". So in order to embed that particular video within a post here, you would simply click on the YouTube icon, then plug in that value string between the two tags. Looking something like this

{YOUTUBE}leKMmyXgpVQ{/YOUTUBE} *remember that if you type this in manually, you need to use the square brackets rather than the curly brackets shown here.

So here's what we wind up with when doing an embedded video from YouTube...

As for the gun safety handling mishap, please don't try that at home.......

To try to make this more clear.

Let's take a YouTube example of the url

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axhzZyNII_I

In order to embed the above YouTube video within a post on this site, you would use the syntax of

Which would then allow the video to be embedded directly within this post.

You only need to include the unique code from the YouTube URL between the tags and not the entire URL itself. Which in this case is the code "axhzZyNII_I"
