In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Where do you guys get your supplies and for how much?

I have a lot of geckos who can use some revamp in their space so looking to get quite a lot for as little as possible :p
I definitely want to get the mushroom feeding ledges though but I'm having a hard time finding them. What happened?? The ones I do find are now $20+ as opposed to $15...

I'm looking for the single ones now though.

I heard and see of people using bamboo rods. Where do you get those as well as other NATURALISTIC looking items?

I use fake leaves/vines from WalMart. $5-$6 for a either 5-6ft. I just cut to fit whatever size I need.

Can you find an example of what you're talking about?

I found 6' bamboo rods at Lowes for $3 and I get fake plants from dollar stores (hot rinse all the dye off of them first though), but the vines and such sound nice - I just wanna know how they look :p

I get most of my supplies either from www.pangeareptile.com, Walmart, or collect/make my own. I have a neighbor growing bamboo in his front yard who lets me take as much as I need, since it grows so fast. I was buying it from a local garden center before that- it's often used for garden stakes. The larger diameters can be challenging to find, though. Or rather- bamboo that isn't dyed or treated can be hard to find.

The story with the Magnaturals mushroom ledges (which I love, along with the magnetic hides) is that the manufacturer had issues with their supply of magnets, and the new magnets cost significantly more, hence the price increase. :/

Oooh you're right! I forget about the treated stuff. What do I need to look out for in bamboo and such?

Also, I've seen people use hot glue guns to put some of their things up in little containers and such. Can it harm the geckos after it's dried or would you say it's pretty safe?

If not safe, is there a better/safer VERY SIMILAR product that can be used that isn't messy or anything? Quick and simple the better lol

Ugh are you serious. That sucks. So why is everyone out of them though? I was only able to find I think 1 or 2 places with the large $20 2 cup holders. Found a few for the single cups though.

Everyone basically sold out of the Magnaturals stuff while they were having their magnet supply issues this year. There's a thread on Pangea's forum about it (I had the same question earlier this year- that's why I know LOL), and Matt is pretty good about keeping us posted on the forum when they're back in stock.

Hot glue is safe (once it's cured), I use it all the time. I use 100% silicone occasionally, too, but silicone doesn't stick well to plastic, so that's when I use hot glue instead.

In terms of bamboo- you just want all natural bamboo that hasn't been dyed or chemically treated (like with pesticides or whatever). It should say on the bamboo if it's been treated, or it will look a different color.

Some people then soak their bamboo in water and bake it in their oven to sterilize it. I personally run mine through my dishwasher on the "sanitize" cycle without chemicals instead.

Ah that stinks. Guess I'll have to keep an eye out for those posts then ;)

Hmm, I want to use things like that but I don't know if I want to use them on my exo terra's and zoo meds. I guess I could cause I get each of mine for 25-35$, so even if I change my mind later, it's not a loss or anything :/
But, is there anything else that will temporarily stick to glass but not fall off every now and then like suction cups?? I hate those stupid suction cups haha. If they're just a teensy bit dirty before you put them up, they eventually fall off.

Ok so same treatment as drift wood and wood in general then basically. Easy enough. I may go pick up some of the bamboo tonight then. The 6' polls... I heard bamboo is hard, but I have very little experience with it. What's the best way to split it up into the measurements you need? (probably a stupid question, I know...)

I use a small hand saw for my bamboo. I'll often use a handheld tree lopper (gardening/pruning tool) on smaller pieces, but it's apt to crush them since they're hollow.

And I find suction cups work really well with horizontally placed bamboo; the bamboo itself pushing against the suction cup helps hold it against the glass. My bamboo ledges haven't fallen once, whereas the suction cupped soap dishes that I use all the time for sleeping ledges in my hatchling and juvie crested gecko enclosures fall down all the time. I get the large suction cups from Home Depot in three packs and pull off the metal hooks, then insert the ends into the bamboo hollow. I don't even bother gluing them.

Oh wow! That's a neat idea with that first bamboo! I never thought of that. How cool!

Maybe I'll give this method a try. It's so tempting... I love the look of the bamboos though :)

plastic or rubber wreaths is what i use from Hobbly Lobby held up by suction cuppsalong with 3" PVC tubes cut into 16"-18"for hides since it's so cheap and readily available at Lowes or Home Depot and easy to wash ,my advice purchase a single tube then cut it(it's much cheaper).

Sounds like Lowes and Home Depot is where I need to head and just look around for possible things then!

I'll keep my eyes out for all these things too. Rick, you wouldn't happen to have a picture of what you've done would you?
