    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Hey everyone, about 4 months ago i purchased a young ball python. He is currently about 17inches long and in a 10gallon tank. I understand this is small but temporarily it will have to do for another two months until i go home from college and upgrade to a 30 or 40lon. Anyway i have a underheating pad, a place for him to hide/climb thats shaped like the bottom of a tree trunk with holes and stuff, a temp gauge and big water bowl. My only question is if its ok that he really cant not be over the underheater because the water bowl covers the whole area thats not heated? This setup is only temporary, the snake eats very well and sheds nicely, is handled daily and very friendly. Thank you for the help. If necessary i will try to link a picture if someone asks.

sounds mostly ok for now . i would get a smaller water bowl for him though , ball pythons dont do alot of soaking so for now you could use a smaller water bowl and that way give your ball space on the cool side . they need to be able to move from one to the other at will to be able to control their internal body temps(thermoregulate) . there are some real good care sheets here and on alot of other sites for ball pythons . you should check them out they cover all the bases .

I agree with Mark, smaller water bowl will give your ball python the ability to thermoregulate. If you can fit a smaller water bowl and a cool side hide, I think that would be the best. :)

Thank you, i stumbled upon fauna while trying to figure out how to get my snake from NE to NY at the end of this school year. Great to be a member.
