In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Enclosure question... hope this is where this goes!

OK, this may sound odd but we need help/ideas!
We purchased a BIG enclosure (7' tall, 5' wide, 3' deep) for a future sailfin. Problem is, thus far we still are living in a 2nd floor apt. No elevator, just stairs. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get something that big up a flight of stairs without crushing my hubby or the thing falling through the floor or anything.

lol, sorry if this seems odd but the enclosure has been outside since we got it and, although covered, it has rained and I'm worried that it won't stay dry much longer... not to mention I was my sailfin! :)

Yeah, that's the only thing I could think to do (take it apart)... I don't even know for sure if our door is tall enough to fit something 7' tall through it!

Hate to tell you this, but it isn't going to fit in one piece. Something is going to have to come apart. Even if you have a straight shot (in the door, up the stairs, in your door) without even the slightest turn, you will have to remove the door and take off the mouldings...and it still may not fit. (Do yourself & hubby a favor and measure first!!) If there is need for any maneuvering, it isn't gonna happen - take the cage apart.
**granted, there are a few possible setups that would allow the cage to be walked up and in, but it is VERY unlikely with the stated dimensions.**

Yeah. Actually, thank the Lord (literally) my husband is a contractor and has like, every tool imaginable. Plus, he is very good at building and things. Well, he suggested cutting it all around the center (there is nothing on the front like glass, we have to get something for that) perfectly straight, then using buiscut joints to reattach it and then putting some moulding around the center to hide the cut... so it will come apart at the center and can be brought up in two pieces that way.
It sounds extensive but the whole thing is put together with nails and glue, so we can't unscrew it! Oh well, it should work out the way he suggested!

Thanks for the help all! I was just wondering what everyone had to say since I figured that some of you have had to deal with bigger enclosures.
