In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Enough already !!!

Last week we were getting slammed with sever thunderstorms and tornado's. Like many place in the mid-south we sustained damage because of those storms, although not as bad as other places. In a four day stretch of thunderstorms it dumped 4.8 inches of rain on us. This rainfall had flooded many parts of Arkansas and caused the levee in a few place to break that was holding back the Black River. Many towns were flooded because of this, and it caused folks to look for higher ground.

I guess I am fortunate, I don't have to worry about flooding. I live up on top of a ridge, and if it floods here we better be building an Ark, because we are screwed!

We had almost 3 days of no rain and then the sky looses it fool mind. Sunday (yesterday) it dropped 4.2 inches of rain in about a 13 hour period.

We had a funnel cloud in the sky and downed power lines on the road. I had to choose an alternate route into work to get around the power lines. My only choice was a washed out gravel road, since the back way had a big tree down across the road according to the local radio station.

I dumped out the rain gauge at 12:30am this morning and by just a little after 10:30 am it had just a little shy of 3 inches in it. It was 2.7 inches to be correct. It is now 1:05pm as I write this and it's still raining, and the rain gauge is almost at 2.9 inches.

In the last 36 hours or so it has dumped over 7 inches of rain on us and it's still raining.

Enough already!!! I give... uncle... I'm tapping out... you win

Maybe its time to start thinking about building that boat.

From St. Louis, I can tell you we have about a million people who agree! We get floods and tornadoes all the time, but this is ridiculous. It's like every few days, dozens of people, rich and poor, are going to lose everything they own. Like a sick lottery. My heart goes out to all of you who have suffered. Who's next? My family has been lucky so far, but the flooding and tornado devastation is not a mile from me as the crow flies.

When I left the house we were up to 3.2 inches... at that time it gave us a total of 7.4 inches of rain in about 36 hours.

Hang in there! We, too, are high enough to stay out of the floods, but if things don't dry out soon, we'll all be insane. My lawn is like 2 feet tall, with mushrooms. The public pool is now just a diving board sticking out above the river water. I had moved the tortoises outside for the summer, but it's too cold and wet. Had to bring them back inside. They have heat lamps, but I was truly afraid they'd drown. When it's too wet for reptiles, it's too wet. AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

I dont dare walk out into my lawn. I'll need a crane to get me out. I'll prolly sink up to my knees.

A near record drought here in Texas. Grass fires elsewhere, my lawn is yellowing and dry, I have to water my veggies with a hose, the ones in the Earth boxes almost every day.

I want your rain.

That's the really 'fun' thing about St. Louis. In August, we, too, will be in the midst of a drought. I'd send some rain your way if I could!

Lucille you can have all the rain you want. I got work I need to do, but cant because of the blasted storms and rain.

It's been pretty dry here in north Florida. But that's pretty typical this time of year. Been putting in fruit trees and palms, so we have to water them every day or two to get them established. Had a small peach tree produce four small peaches that were ready to eat this past weekend already. They were so scrumptious that I wanted MORE peach trees! Also got some pear and apple trees. So I'm spending a lot of this retirement just watering things. When we get everything in place, I guess I should lay out some irrigation lines. This is the first year we have had to run the irrigation on some of the bamboo groves for quite a few years. Some of the shoots died back because the ground just wasn't holding enough moisture to support them all.

Our ground has tooo much moisture... I'll be happy to share. See if I cant box some up in my last styro lined box and send it your way. I have never seen our pond this full... I hope the levee holds.

Here they're starting to blow up the levees, flooding farms to save towns. I feel so sorry for those that lost their homes and farms, and only way to earn money. Can you imagine having hundreds of acres and the government telling you they're going to destroy it? Not saying it's the right or wrong decision. Either way, homes would be lost. Glad I didn't have to make it.

Just another step into the gov trying to run everyones life. You build a town in a flood plane and we'll save it by destroying folks farms that were smart enough to reside outside of a flood plane.

I read an article yesterday where someone was talking about if the farmers had flood insurance on their crops they would be reimbursed... but otherwise there were SOL. What about their homes, their equipment, their future.

Some have started a suit against the gov for destroying their lives... and I hope they win that suit.
