    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    Addendum: 01/10/2026
    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

escapee!!

Not all that major of an issue at this point, since he has been located and is safe and sound. Just thought I would throw this out for anyone else that may have one get loose.

I was out of town for a few days and left my son to take care of everything. When I got home one of my males was on "Slither About" (snake version of "Walk About") I didn't care how it happened, I was just bummed he was missing. I wasn't really worried because I know him fairly well and just had a feeling I was going to find him. So I started to put together a snake trap. While I did that I was looking around to see if I might spot him and figure out where he had gotten to.

It was clear he had been everywhere. My son said he had heard a couple odd noises but didn't think that it might be a loose critter. So I started thinking about how I might be able to rig something like a snake alarm up. This is what I came up with and think it is a pretty good idea. I took empty soda cans and stacked them three and four high all over the place. Thinking that if he even bumped it a little, it would send the entire stack crashing to the ground, giving me an audible and visual clue that he was moving around.

So after I had about 100 pop cans stacked all over the basement and a rat all thawed for the snake trap, I went back to trying to find him. It seemed to me the floor would be too cool, so started looking up in the warmer areas and where I had found other cold blooded creatures in the past.

To make a long story short, (I know, too late), by using my wife's hand mirror to look up on top of the warm air duct, I found him on top of the duct right over the furnace. He had been gone for about 3 days, but seemed to be content, and none the worse for wear. After several minutes of my tapping his tail, he started to come out. At that point I knew I had him, and it would be just a matter of time before he was back where he was supposed to be.

I gotta tell you, I love the pop can idea....hopefully I'll never have to use it, but Murphy being who he is with his laws, I'm sure at some point in time that idea will come in handy!
