In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

EVERYONE Please help out

There is some thought going on about setting a standardized terminology for all of us to go by. It would help to clear up some confussion for buyers and sellers as to what to really label their animals and what the seller is selling. This is the list and poss. deff. we came up with and tossed off each other. Its by no means the end all be all of terms. We would like any input you may have to see if we could impliment this for everyone. No more guess work on what the adds mean, just simple terms even newbies can follow. Some terms pretty much mean the same thing, but when used we will still know what they mean if we follow the same guidelines. So if you see anything you would like to see changed or added please feel free to lets us know.

Please add your 2 cents. Thank you in advance.

WC--( any animal harvested from the wilds)
CH--(farmed hatched animals and then imported)
CB--( born from imported gravid female)
CBB--( parents bred and babies born in captivity)
Fresh Import--( less than 6 months captive)
Established--( WC in captivity for 6 months to 2 years)
LTC--( in captivity for at least 2 years)
Proven--( has bred and produced for the person)
F1--( offspring from cb parents)
F2--( offspring from F1 parents)
F3--(offspring from F2 parents)

A noble gesture, but one that probably won't work due to the inability to enforce it.

regarding the WC, CB, CH, CBB issue  i think most people are already aware of these terms.  It is just a matter of will people apply them honestly. although the most confusion seems to come from CB and CBB.  To many people CB still means captive bred like it did to me up until a few years ago.  Come to think of it, I still label my captive born & bred animals as CB, when people ask I tell them it means captive bred and my explaination reveals the actual meaning (CBB)  I'll have to change that.

as far as the length of captivity goes, its the same thing.  I don't know how you can arbitrarily state that an animal that is 23 months captive is not a LTC.

something that would be much easier and avoid all confusion would be for people to actually spell out what they are trying to say rather than rely on abbreviations.  the problem is that everyone is in such a damn hurry nowdays they don't even want to take the time to make sure all their words are spelled correctly much less actually spell some of them out.

Don't get me wrong, I think it would be great if there were standards, but to have standards you have to have agreement, and we all know how difficult it can be to get that around here.

However, you have given me an idea for a new posting in my store  "what do all the abbreviatins mean"  and for this I thank you

You forgot to add one category:

                      HB- -Hybrid Mutt

Seems rather popular nowadays, everyone is doing it.
