    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

I bought a Easren milk from the for $90 bucks and $50 something shipping. The snake was malnourished, wouldn't eat and infested with mites. Even after getting rid of the mites, the snake died. So after calling Exotic pets and talking with the owner, Ken I explained the situation and wanted my money back. Was told he couldn't do that, but would give me another snake of equal value or one worth more if I payed the differance. Didn't leave me with much choice. So I picked out a brooksi (nice looking king) for $70 bucks, $20 for the snake and $50 for shipping. Well guess what the snake got here a few days later, once again the snake was malnourished and covered with mites, nice guy huh? Again after getting rid of the mites by rinsing them off, useing Prevent a Mite and Reptile Relief that got rid of all the mites, but the king is still in isolation from my other 24 kings and milks, but at least I got him to start feeding!

I warn all of you from doing business with Exotic Pets in Las Vegas NV.

Have you informed Ken of this thread? He is a member here, and to be honest I'm a bit surprised, he has a few pretty long "good guy" threads here already.

I am kind of surprised. I have met Ken a couple of times, done business and I have even been to his shop. Do you have any pictures of the snakes with the mites?

I do not quite follow the transaction for the second snake, did you pay for it even with a replacement guarantee from Ken?

I have traded with Ken a few times and have been very happy with his animals. I also recommend him to my friends.
I have a hard time believing he would send out malnourished snakes. Mites do happen from time to time in the hobby, but I highly doubt he would send out snakes that were infested with them.
Please post some pics.
 
Well I would like to ask Ken about this ad, there are no breeders of these in the US that I know of, are these wild caught animals being sold as CBs? Sure looks like it. :rolleyes:

It might be CB on a farm or an import that came in laid eggs. Seems a lot of people are using CB for that description instead of the CB moniker which most of us would assume to be born here.
 
What happen to the good old days? WC were captive hatched or wild caught/ farm raised imports.

Captive bred, were CBs, now we have CBBs, why? Captive bred means just that, so Ken are they imports?

They are gone. CB sells better than CH import in the title. :(
 
I'll have to agree with Steve on this one. Even if they are imported, Ken is not stating they are not. A friend of mine exports and sells CB turtles, tortoises and colubrids every year in Daytona. None of them are born in the U.S. His breeding facilities are overseas and I have had the opportunity to visit as well as his pens, breeders, and incubators full of eggs. Ken stated they were CB which as we all know means captive born, be it in the U.S. or elsewhere. If eggs were laid by a WC gravid female they will still be CB. In my opinion the idea behind using the term is to differentiate them from WC animals, nothing more nothing less.

Now as far as the mite claim goes, I don't know. We've inquired about animals they had for sale a few times but never actually purchased from them. They have always been prompt in their replies. Mites? Everyone who's been working with reptiles long enough have dealt with them at one point or another. Having said this I'll add there's no excuse for sending animals with mites. The animals you send are like your "business card", you better make sure that when they leave your hands are spotless!

Ive dealt with Ken on numerous occasions and have been in his shop too. I Belize it was already asked but does the original poster have any photos to show proof of the infested snake? I have gotten in snakes and jumped to quick and said they were infested. So let's keep this on topic and not bring up other inquiries. If there are other problems please start a separate thread. I hope the brooki is doing well please post photos when you have a free moment

You are wrong Dan, the ad says they are captive bred, not captive born, maybe you should read the ad again.

You are right, it does say captive bred, which means...? We can debate all day about the semantics of CB, CBB, CH, etc. The point is that for all we know he stated they were "born in captivity", he assured they were not imported, did he?

Back to the topic at hand.

Yea ok then there Dan, then what is the difference between CH captive hatched and and CB as you say, Captive born, they are not the exact same thing? Or is CB a ploy as we said before.

He claims they are CAPTIVE BRED, so who is the breeder?

You guys claim you want proof of the mites, you are kidding right? He has 400 ads, 3/4 orf them are imports, and you think he does not have mites? Thats funny, no it was the buyers mites, thats a frigging joke.
 
I know the difference, CH refers to eggs and CB refers to live birth. I have found two websites claiming CB columbian tegus for sale. A lot of pet stores do get in a lot of babies bred in homes that do not sell on line or as a hobby, it just happened. I will wait for Ken's response.
 
While I will not argue about the tegu's being sold, (I only know how to tell them apart from argentine) I have bought snakes from Ken and the transaction was flawless, no mites, no problems, and perfect packaging.

I also met Ken at NARBC Anaheim 2006, he was a pleasure to talk with and has an awesome sense of humor.
