In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

If you can't figure it out, Shrap, don't worry about it

There is not much to figure out. That Crested gecko looks sick, beat up and very thin. And he sure is not going to look "just fabulous" after a bath.

I think it is time to take a little harder look at that picture, as well as Ken's continued answers and muck. Harald, does that look like a healthy animal to you? If was in you care, would you breed an animal in that shape?

Honestly, Bobby, I am not familiar with, nor do I have any interest in crested geckos. While I could use my experience with other lizards as a guide, I don't see any reason to try to pick apart a single picture of a species I have never even closely looked at.
I was not offering any defense of Ken, simply responding to the posts immediately before mine

To go back to the breeding, it's not that they can't be proven, but he says they're doing it now and tells me that he just got shipped there. Well it's one or the other.
OK, then educate me - how long after shipping does it take for a male crested gecko to resume breeding?...ignoring, for the time being, anybody's thoughts on appropriate quarantine. (I'm not even going to ask how long an animal that just got here has been here, lol).
This is not intended to be adversarial, so please just take that question at face value.

I don't see where he stated they were "doing it now". I think the ad says proven male. He could have purchased it as such and is just using it as a sales point. Unless I missed something.

This is the the line being addressed

These are adult male crested geckos. All are proven and breeding now. Very robust and pretty

I stand corrected. I never saw the ad. I thought Saucy was quoting it.

Boy, sometimes I can't win. For the record, the gecko is perfect. As flawless as you can get. There is not one mark, scar, bite mark, wound or cut on the animal. It has all its toes, and a full tail. I took a photo of all 7 of them (3.4) right out of the box. It had a messy shed. I had a camera there. We shot photos of all of them. Plain and simple. Not the best shot in the world. The poster who emailed me could have asked for a more recent photo, just as anyone here could have. Instead I'm called a liar by the poster, and am panned by others. The gecko is everything I said it was. It's perfect in every way. It is in perfect health. It is a proven breeder. It's a great looking animal. It eats great. Don't know what else to say. A request for a better photo after it shed would have been nice. The person that emailed me was rude and insulting. I, on the other had responded to them promptly and politely. They could have asked for a better photo, but instead called me all kinds of uncalled for things on a public forum. You are incorrect about the gecko. I would never sell a sick animal to anyone, much less post it for sale. My track record proves this. Sorry about the messy shed photo. However, to talk about me like I'm some scumbag is uncalled for.

I was hoping your answer would be something along these lines.

While I can see where someone could mistake the discolouration on the head for a bite mark, I myself thought it was part of the animals pattern.

You're right too. It WOULD have been nice for someone to ask for more pictures before making ASSumptions.

You been pinching the help or something Ken? There must be some reason you keep getting the poopy end of the stick without reason.

Just to claify. These geckos were sold by me some time ago, and I have since then purchased many hatchlings from the purchaser. He decided to get out of geckos, so I bought them back from him. A couple of the females had actually laid eggs in the shipping containers, and some have laid eggs since then. We paired a couple up, and breeding was seen. None of the males have ever been housed together. The "marks" on the head of the one in question are spots. Not wounds or cuts or bites or scars. They are spots. They are still there, after we helped the little guy shed. He's actually the prettiest looking out of the three.

Wes, actually that's my had holding the gecko. The person taking the photo even asked me if I wanted to help it shed first, and I said no, let's just take them. I should have shed it first. I did not. I should have. However, that does not make the gecko sick or injured, and it for sure does not make me a liar or uncaring about an animals health. It has an interesting group of spots on the head and a few more on its torso. I was told by someone in the store that it's a dalmation, but having had them before, I don't think it is. It's just what I said it is: a proven male crested gecko. Nothing special, but very nice looking. Thanks for your support.

Now I understand the "proven and breeding now" part without any quarantine.

Thanks for clearing that up Ken.
