Hi everyone,
I’m looking to rehome my 17 y/o male red tail boa, Moose, to an experienced and responsible keeper in Southern California. This is not an urgent situation. I’m taking my time to find the right home.
About Moose:
Why I’m rehoming:
Unfortunately, my current housing situation won’t allow me to keep him, despite my best efforts. My landlord has denied it due to insurance restrictions, so I’m focused on finding Moose a stable, long-term home with someone experienced.
Setup:
He is currently housed in a Reptizoo 4x2 enclosure (recently purchased), which I’m open to including for the right setup/home. Though he needs a larger enclosure as he is full grown ~5ft.
What I’m looking for in a new owner:
I will ask a few questions and request enclosure photos not to be difficult, but to make sure he’s going to the right home
If you’re interested, please reach out with some info about your experience and current setup. I’m happy to answer any questions as well.
Thanks for your time I just want to make sure Moose ends up in a solid, experienced home.

- Good temperament, has never shown aggression or caused any issues
- Has been kept in a proper enclosure his entire life
- I have owned him since 2010
- He has never had health issues
- He has never bitten a person
- He is very docile and doesn’t mind being held
- He has always eaten frozen, thawed rats

What I’m looking for in a new owner:
- Experience with large constrictors (boas, larger pythons, etc.)
- Proper enclosure already set up or ready
- Understanding of long-term care (this is a decades-long commitment animal)
- Someone who keeps a clean, well-maintained setup and prioritizes long term care
- Potentially someone who can foster till my living situation changes.
