• Responding to email notices you receive.
    **************************************************
In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

  • IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!! About the Google Adsense ads being displayed

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Exploit Toolkit Website 33 Attack

I don't know if it is related to anything else, but the last several times I've tried to access this site I got the following message:

Fatal error: Call-time pass-by-reference has been removed in /home/fauna/public_html/chat/api.php on line 6

Yeah, this wasn't one of my better days.

Along with this stuff, I've been fighting with a problem concerning PayPal transaction (IPNs) being passed to this site when members would upgrade to paid memberships. The PayPal transaction would go through, I would get an email notice about it, but the notice sent to this site to perform the actual upgrade was either never sent, or this site's code never got it. Anyway, my programmer thought that something in PHP got screwed up so I asked the server guys to recompile PHP for me.

BOOM!

Not sure if they left off a module during the recompile or it was the fact that they went to version 5.4, that I have heard vBulletin has some issues with. Anyway, they backed on down to v5.3 and recompiled, and so far the site is up. Haven't checked on that original IPN problem yet, but this all gave me a splitting headache and I'm just going to walk away from it for a while.

Computers.............aaarghhh!!!!!!

I thought it was going to be 5.4 issue. I had issue with 5.4 and some add on's with vbulletin for a computer site I was helping on.

Something strange is really going on, I just got this email from [email protected] - here's the source coding attached as a txt file

I'm also seeing a problem with the profile pages.

Beats the hell out of me.... Anyone want to buy a website? :slamit:

I'm TIRED of this crap...........

Just to add my experience...

I also got the Website 33 warning today.
For the past few days I've also had fauna fail to load and the URL bar showing a different address.

I don't know if it's coincidental or not but I just started running Symantec Endpoint Protection two weeks ago. In the Website 33 instance it just blocks it and allows the site to load. In the other instance it fails to load the site and I get a notification from Symantec that a certain IP has been blocked for 600 seconds.
An immediate reload of the site works though.

I've had no problems with my laptop, which is running Linux, it has only happened with the desktop whixh is running XP and Symantec Endpoint.

As for the ad blocking software, I'm not sure how exactly that software works. Whether it blocks the ads at the source or it allows the code to be loaded and only blocks the visibility. If the latter is the case then a google ad could still be the problem.

I've been having these instances happen for the last 4 ro 5 days I think.

Well, the server guys downgraded PHP to a lower level and I got FaunaAds back. But the profile problem is still here and on CornSnakes, so it's definitely a server related problem.

I think the PayPal IPN problem was fixed somewhere along the line, but not sure if the latest downgrade of PHP killed that again. Haven't looked....

Well, the REPORT POST function for members to report suspicious or inappropriate posts is not working.

Negative, my profiles still shows only partially.
My profile is back to normal!!! (Well, as normal as it can be, considering it's mine :D)
I'm sure the fix involved a lot of arcane computer stuff and a few Excedrin. Well done.

Yeah, especially the Excedrin. Matter of fact, I'm taking one right now...

I know I'm late to discover this thread but I also had this happen. I clicked on my bookmark for fauna and my AVG pops up that it just stopped an attack. The tab I was trying to open fauna in just stopped and didn't load and my Java toolkit addon for Firefox was got automatically disabled. However I just assumed it was a Java problem (it wouldn't be the first time). Firefox even warns that it's known to be vulnerable.

I mainly view this site on my phone. I have never had this happen when viewing on my phone.

So far so good. I only got the warning once though. I still have Java toolkit disabled. Don't know if it's the cause in my case or not though.

Well I got a Web Attack: Blackhole Toolkit Website 36 warning from Norton at 1:55 pm today. Also I'm running the latest version of Norton and Firefox.
