In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

i dont think that there is too much emphasis on this in leos but i have a tangerine SHCT that has dark blue eyes. i was wondering if anyone else has noticed oddly colored eyes in thier leopard geckos. please post. thanks.

i have noticed this... i have some hypos with blue eyes, seems like every gecko i have has smething a bit different... like i said i have hypos with blue eyes, hypo tangs with black eyes, some leos with grey looking eyes some even have a greenish look, some have a yellowish brown look... the only consistant eye color in all my morphs are the bell albinos and their eyes are pink and red..... i had trempers albinos (not anymore) some had kind grey green eyes while another had green and marroon eyes and still one of them was born with red eyes but lost most of the color as he aged.
what does eye color mean if anything?? i am not for sure.... but but different color eyes are quite common now if you had a gecko with one blue eye and one red... it might make me wonder hehehe

fruit flys and humans

theses are genetic traits like any other and though they may be common i feel that the right colored eyes would compliment certain color mutations. a green eyed albino sounds pretty darn cool to me. blue eyed tangs, red eyed blizzards and so on. i just wonder what kind of gene blue eyes are in leopard geckos... reccessive? co dominant? i know that ron tremper is working with purple eyed albinos...

p.s. my geckos dark blue eyes are kind of a slate grey/blue.

i understand but it seems that certain eye colors are indicative to certain morphs... hypos or alot of them have blue eyes, i think this has to do with the lack of melanin..... bells pink and red... normals and variants of range from black to green to gold to brown...
i dont think the gene works the same way as in humans... i think in the case of leos it is that the particular morph it is changes or influences the eye color
does this make any sense?

complimenery genetics

i wont go too far into complimentery genetics but what you're saying about blue eyes in hypos is touching on the subject. things like green eyes coupled with red hair in humans. its not the red hair that causes the green eyes the genes are just coupled that way. like tremper albino giants.
red eyes are obviously the result of amelinism but blue eyes in a leopard gecko... not likely the result of hypomelanism. when you reduce the amount of black in a otherwise brown eye it does not make blue or gray.

purple eyes

another thing to consider is breeding albinism into an animal with blue eyes. dark blue eyes with red pupils.... how cool is that? probably similar if not the same thing as the purple eyed albinos that ron tremper is working with.

right but if gecko genetics were as human genetics it would be much easier. our trempers and rainwater albinos, t + strains normally do not have red eyes (there are exceptions) and in those the eye color can vary..... in hypos yes the melanin is reduced but look what it does to black??? turns it purple... so what would it do to black or grey eyes.... blue???? i do not think its too far a fetch...
i cant think right now ill be on later i have a killer sinus headache!!

genetics are genetics are genetics

weather its peas or fruitflys or people or geckos the principals of genetics work the same way in all walks of life.

i highly suggest you read the article on this website located at:
albinsm in snakes

also if you could provide me with an example of an albino that doesn't have at least red pupils id be pretty amazed.

yeah i kinda doubt it

p.s. you said yourself that there are hypos without blue eyes. if blue eyes were a result of hypomelanism than wouldn't it occur in all hypos? yet it doesn't.
