In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

fast swith to F/T

A couple weeks ago I picked up a 1.0 male ghost and a 0.1 het ghost. The het had not had a meal at the time but thought I would take the chance since I was given a discount due to that fact. The male had several meals in him as he was a little older. I got them home and offered them each a live hopper mouse last Sat. which they both made short order of. So yesterday I stopped to get a couple more live and guess what...NO LIVE MICE AT ALL, WTF (see my post about looking for a rodent breeder in South Dakota). So what do you do?

Well you take what you can get and hope for the best. I picked up two frozen and some fresh mouse bedding from the pet store. Took them home and did what you have to do.

WHAT A HAPPY DAY. Warmed them up in my hands while the were swimming in that lovely bedding and offered them on the end of the tongs. The male was first and he took it no problem. Then the female, just about the time I was going to give up because she didn't seem interested she struck at the little bugger from inside her hide but missed. So i stuck with it a little longer and BAMM she took hers as well.

SO if anyone is wondering how many times you have to offer live before trying to switch to F/T? from my experiance the answer to that question is ONE. Thank You, AH, Thank You Very Much. :yesnod:

lol gratz Jerry....wish it was always that easy to switch em over lol

I'd suggest for your next try not to warm them in your hands tho. Even with the mouse bedding I'm sure your also rubbing your scent all over those mice lol. annnnd that could end badly for your hand when your holding your snakes one day.

Just try some hot water in bowl or plastic tub, once thawed just dry em off with a paper towel and you should be fine. Since they took the mice so easily I doubt you even need the mouse bedding to scent the mice.

but kudos man! I have a few snakes that turn their noses up to f/t no matter what I do lol. But the younger ones tend to be easier to change over.

Congrats indeed!!! ...but I agree with Willow; good luck came into play on that one--LOL!!

I also bought a couple of pastel female siblings about 6 weeks ago; they had not yet taken their first meals. One of the girls, I've had to force-feed the only 4 meals that she's taken so far. The other girl has eaten live mice and rat pups and is now eating f/k off the bottom of her tub. Some are just easier than others, but I congratulate you just the same!!

In my experience it is none. ;)

I've only produced 50 or so BP's over the last 3 years, but every one I have hatched started on F/T exclusively. It takes a little more patience and sometimes an extra week or 2 but just as many will start with F/T as do with live.

Thanks all, I also wonder why sometimes its so easy and other times you pull out your hair.

While I was warming the mice they were in a plastic bag not right in my hand, and I washed before opening the cages. I don't want to be posting pics of blood any sooner than I have to.

And Brandi, If I hadn't moved you know I would help if you wanted. I also know what you are going through. You might know that I took 18 months to switch one female form live mice to F/T rats.

Thanks for the info Matthew W. I had always heard that it was near impossibe to get hatchlings to start on F/T. From what you say I will start trying that right away. Don't want to get into the Live/PK/ FT thing but as for me I like F/T better...Also feeding them to the snakes.
