    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

A few minutes ago I tried to get onto Fauna and could not, I do not know whether it was a glitch in my computer or what. It doesn't happen often, but small incidents like that serve to remind that there are pleasures and privileges that I and most of us have and I for one am going to make an effort not to take any of the good things in life for granted, but to be grateful for each day that is given.
 
I think it was the server. I couldn't get on either Fauna or the cornsnakes forum. I was working on a post when it quit, which is probably just as well because it was another one of those wordy "paulisms". You may all thank the server now. :rofl: :raspberry
 
Yes, the server was down for about 20 minutes. I caught it right when it died and contacted the network center. They rebooted the system to bring it back up.

Usually this sort of thing waits until I go out of town for a day..... :rolleyes:
 
Well, with breeding season breathing down my neck, not likely I'll be going anywhere anytime soon. But still, when I am working with the animals, it may be several hours between checking in here.

For that matter, my comcast service was down most of last night. So if the server had died during that time, I wouldn't have known anything about it. The network center is supposed to have monitoring in place to catch server failures, but it doesn't seem very reliable. They just ping the server, and that does not test to make sure the actual processes are running. I have an website service program running that detects domain outages that polls the site every 5 minutes, which so far seems pretty reliable. But I do have to check my emails to see that notice.

Would be nice if servers and the internet in general was just 100 percent reliable, but that just doesn't seem to be the case.....

Well just in case of future problems can you please post your home, cell, and business phone numbers so that we can all call you when something happens!!!!! You know...Good customer relations and all... :hehe: :hehe:
 
I will write you a letter and mail it, just in case nobody is able to get a hold of you.

Reasonably so, I think.......

Of course, after about 20 shots, my sinuses are kind of battered from the muzzle blast. Ear muffs protect the ears, but I think localized barometric pressure fluctuates somewhat with each shot, which affects everything else. :hehe:
 
The new fad is going to be the Barrett .416 :D :D Have heard they are outperforming the .50 BMG for long shots. The example I saw were 2000 yrds, 10 shots, with roughly a silver dollar pattern on a perfectly calm cool day. I've been concidered good up to a click, but 2? I don't know if I am that good. A good shot can do it with a BMG, but I aint sure about the concistancy.
And Barrett refuses to sell them to any California law enforcement agencies, due to the brady bill violating the citezens of calif. rights to keep and bear arms.

Even with a gun capable of that sort of repeatability, I doubt many shooters are. A scope capable of resolving to a silver dollar sized point of aim at 2,000 yards would be strong enough that your heart pumping would make your sight picture change in rhythm with it. So you would have to time the trigger pull EXACTLY the same between heart beats each time. That would take an enormous amount of practice to perfect. Not to mention that just shooting a .50BMG tends to make your heart race a bit while you are squeezing on the trigger.

Now as for the .416, I thought I saw ads by Barrett where they specifically targeted this gun for sales in California.

Personally I'll stick with .50BMG. As far as I know, you can't get AP, API, Incendiary, or spotter/tracer rounds in .416..... :hehe: Those are what makes shooting a .50BMG even MORE fun!
 
They are targeting California. But the public of California.
BMG, SKS, Mini 14's or 30's, G3s or any other semi auto assault or combat style rifle or carbine if I aint mistaken, are banned in Cali. Thanks to the Brady bill. The .416 mentioned is bolt action single shot w/10 round mag.

As for the shots mentioned above, I saw a video, and with barrett there in the video, these are the claims that they made. Seems pretty miraculous to Me as well. But i don't know why such a fine gun maker would lay false field claims. He's been making BMG's for a while also.
Man, I don't think there is a scope that would get up close like that. LOL I have Leopold 9 x 16 with 50mm objective and it will reach out there, but even 1K is pushing it.

And you would need those kind of rounds for??? Afraid of a terrorist attack on your place by those darn internet terrorists seeking moderately sized websites to broadcast thier message of evil????
