    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

It seems to me that the Internet has created change: changes in the way some of us do business, and changes in the way some pf us interact with people. Some of the change is positive, there are products and ideas that would have not easily been found, that are now available through a computer search of Internet sites.

Too, there is a sense of community for many, especially those whose lives do not lend themselves to a lot of travel; one can now have a group of online friends (such as here on Fauna) where one can discuss common business ideas, challenges, goals and hobbies.

There is a downside also, there are those (trolls and others) who feel free to discuss on the Internet offensive subjects and begin incendiary threads that they would never dream of saying to a real person face to face.

Is there an actual change in the way we communicate, because of the Internet?

Wait a second now, I am perfectly willing to discuss offensive topics and be incendiary to your face. It's just that the internet gives me more time to think before responding. And, I don't really have to listen because I can keep going back to what you posted and reread it for inspiration on more offensive and incendiary comments to make.

I communicate the same way, internet or face to face. I find the internet to be a very useful tool to find out whatever information I want. It's quick and easy. Before the internet existed, I remember having to go to the library to find information or sitting on the phone making a bunch of phone calls.

As far as my animals go, I enjoy having forums like these, because my vet, as knowledgeable as she is, doesn't know everything about every species. I think it's a lot more informational to talk to someone who actually owns the animal in question. Plus with forums, you can get a lot of responses from experienced people. When I got my ig, the closest thing to an internet was a thing called Prodigy. It had no pictures, no instant messages, and not a whole lot of information. My vet had told us then that my ig would live healthy eating a mixture of chicken, dog food, and greens. It wasn't until AOL became popular that we learned that we were feeding him wrong and switched.

It's funny that this is posted today. I was watching the news last night and apparently in Cuba, Fidel Castro outlawed the internet. Even in schools.

Castro doesn't have much longer to rule. And, as soon as he's gone Cubans will be on the internet. I can't see any nation surviving economically or politically without being hooked up to the internet.

I see the internet as having great potential to be an equalizer.
Information, economic development, cultural exchange, free speech.

i love that i have the internet because i do most of my research on it and my business...it saves a lot of time and i love fauna because there are so many people that have the same interests and problems..so that way, if i feel theres anything wrong with my animals, i could just ask someone thats been in that position before making it a bigger deal than it is and wasting my and my vets time...it could have its dangers if people arent careful though....thats the only unfortunate part.
