In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

Very nice picture Steve, shooting photo's on glass makes their colors pop.
I took some wicked pics last year with clear glass making the snakes look like they are floating :)

Thanks Jerry, I watched a guy on YouTube extending a product with clear glass over his shooting table to make the product appear as it's floating; I have to try that one day. If you still have your photos you're welcome to post them here!!

Fantastic picture, Steve. I love the reflection. Very cool!

Thanks Tere, it's such a shame that not all my pics come out as nice as this one. It's been a while since I shot pics on black, I'll have to plan on doing it again soon with my new D300s.

Are you shooting on glass or plexiglass? Ether way great shot!

Thanks Patrick, I shot this pic on black plexiglass, I wish I had a nice piece of black glass to shoot on...

Does anyone know a place online that I can find black glass?

You can spray paint one side of a pane to get 2 different backgrounds....straight black if you use the painted side, or the reflective look if you use the unpainted side.

I painted glass before and can only remember all the runs and drips but maybe if I don't have any luck getting a nice piece of black glass I see how the painted glass works.

Great photo. Like the "ground" / backdrop.. Takes talent & skill. I see you have both.

Thanks Ted, that day I had both, I wish all my pics could be as nice.

Very nice pic. I like the black back ground. That's def giving me picture ideas

go to a store that sells stained glass... if you can't find it, i can get you a piece. there's several stained glass shops here.

Most places that repair glass for homes and businesses can get you the black tinted glass if they don't have it in stock. Most of them have left over scrap from jobs that they will sell you for cheap.

Thanks Brenden, I'm going to have to shoot more pics on black and see if I can do as well.

I never thought of that, I'll have to see if there is such a place in my area but if I'm not lucky I'll definitely shoot you a pm.

Thanks I'll have to ask, maybe it's a special order item. I just tried looking online with no luck.
