In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I just got off the phone with these bozos.
I shipped a package Priority Overnight and it hasn't been delivered yet. Well, according to Fed Ex, since the package is Sebastian Florida, the EARLIEST delivery is noon. That is NOT priority overnight in my book but it is with Fed Ex. Apparently they consider this a "remote" zip code.

I understand that you are upset, Steve...but when you set up the shipment, didn't you check the delivery time?

I just did a quick quote on the two zipcodes listed for Sebastian, FL
Wed Oct 3, 2007 12:00 PM FedEx Priority Overnight®
Wed Oct 3, 2007 4:30 PM FedEx Priority Overnight®
At least you weren't shipping to the one listed as delivery by 430pm....

I hate to say it, Steve, but you failing to check does not make them bozos

I've had UPS tell me that a priority delivery to a remote location my not be by 10:30 am.

I had one go to, hmmmm, can't recall where but there priority was 1:30-4:00pm.

Got to ask EVERY time when it will be there.

It sucks but you can't assume anything.

If you have an account with FedEx it says what delivery times and service levels are available to you for each shipment you send. I really cant see how this is FedEx's fault.

Yes it does.

Well, in the words of Wes, I ASSumed since it was going to Florida and priority overnight, it would arrive by 10:30am. My bad.

At least this one didn't go to the wrong apartment and get animal control involved.

Hey Now, I had my SS's well in control and small case today just because I didn't think you were being an ASS, but had simply assumed.

IT happens, sh, don't tell, but by always ASSuming that something has changed since the last time you shipped, by asking the same questions you did last time, you can ovoid this in the future.

What irks me about this situation is there is a standard overnight delivery, there by 4:30, and the priority overnight delivery, there by 10:30. There is a cost difference between the two, I think $5 or so. Not much, but still...
They'll gladly take the full price for priority overnight delivery even when it's a remote zip code and isn't guaranteed until 4:30.
We, as shippers, really shouldn't send a snake by standard overnight, even to remote locations, because of the potential of a problem arising, and the fact we didn't opt for the priority overnight can look bad on us, despite the fact that sending it priority wouldn't make it get there at 10:30 anyway.
FedEx should charge us for the level of service they can provide in these cases, but they do not, nor will they refund anything because they state the guaranteed delivery time as 4:30.

You know what else is cool? It's cool when they charge you for insurance when they are late on a delivery. Now, they not only don't guarentee live delivery of animals but they charge for it even if you don't purchase it.

I've had it happen both with fex-ex and ups. They were late, refunded the shipping charges MINUS the cost of insurance which they DON'T offer. I don't bother paying for insurance on shipments they won't insure.

You have to read the fine print all the way around.

Clay - for areas that the Priority times are later, I believe you will find that Standard times are shifted, also. I have encountered zipcodes that do NOT show Priority as an option...and standard is late afternoon to evening. Maybe I am missing something :shrug01:

I've never checked the standard times when priority was late, since I've never sent anything standard, so they might be shifted to later than normal as well. Maybe I've been irked all this time for nothing.
I've also never encountered a zip code where priority wasn't an option.

Wed Oct 3, 2007 12:00 PM FedEx Priority Overnight®
Wed Oct 3, 2007 4:30 PM FedEx Standard Overnight®

Wed Oct 3, 2007 4:30 PM FedEx Priority Overnight®
Thu Oct 4, 2007 7:00 PM FedEx 2Day®

I put up the info for Sebastian, FL, as it seemed like a good example. Notice for the first zip, both Priority and Standard got moved 1.5 hrs ("normal" times are 1030am and 3pm). For the second zip, there is no Overnite Standard, it goes from Priority at 430 to 2nd day, which is by the following evening. (Hmmm, I would have sworn it was Priority that was missing from that other zipcode...but it could have been Standard, I suppose. I might be able to track it down later tonite)

Neither have I.
It allowed me to enter Priority Overnight online so I figured it was "priority overnight".

Wes, if I'm not mistaken, that was the shipment you sent to me. :)

I have yet to have someone ship to me and have it by 10:30, the average time a package arrives here is anywhere from 12:30-2:00 pm, sent by priority....even when it says online that it's going to arrive by 10:30, I know better, though I'm always ready and waiting by that time just in case. I did have one case where the person shipping to me was told that priority was not an option (yeah, I'm way out in the boonies), can't remember off hand where it was coming from.

I really like the current driver I have, when he sees I have a live shipment coming, he goes out of his way to get it here as soon as he can (he'll actually make the trek out here before doing all of his in-town business deliveries if he can), and actually does take extra care of it. Since he's been my driver, I have actually had a couple of packages arrive here by 11:30 or so. Not many drivers that will do that, I sure hope he sticks around.

I live so far out in the sticks that UPS charges an extra $2.50 for deliveries to my house.

UPS gets here no later than 1:30 in the afternoon but rarely drives all the way to house and I have to walk up the driveway looking for my box.

Fed Ex has until 5pm to deliver next day packages. I usually have them held at the local hub and drive 1 1/2 - 2 hours round trip so they don't sit on the truck all day.

However I did get a chance to talk with the FedEx driver for my area and he's down for me getting verified and gave me the best times for pick ups so they won't sit on his truck all day. Unfortunately he couldn't help much on deliveries due to the office's route regs and not knowing how long his early deliveries take from day to day.

Just a word of caution;
Be careful how loud you complain and to whom at FedEx.
And I am speaking from experience.

one other thing ...did you ship to a residence or a business?

Home Based Business which is allowed under point J.

I am not quiet when dealing with them. Twice they delivered packages to the wrong apartment on me and one of those times it freaked out the wrong recipient that ended up with the box so much they called animal control. That was a fiasco.

Opposite side of the fence...

Wow, it's exactly the opposite with shipments coming to me. Everyone is told that when shipping to me that it will only get here by noon - UPS and FedEx. However, the people in the local offices don't seem to know what's being told all over the rest of the US - because my deliveries usually arrive by 10:00 or 10:30. When they arrive at 10:30 on the dot the drivers are out of breath when arriving at my door, as if they were just jogging with the box to make it on time.

Plus, I recently recieved two uromastyx for a friend via USPS (I would not have allowed them to be shipped that way, let alone 2nd day) and the mailman called my house to make sure I'd be home, or else he could rework his route to make sure I was home. Then he continued on a long story about his childhood catching snakes and lizards... hehehe. Lucky Me! :D
